Chapter 57

Cleo's POV

Today is November 20th and we got out of school yesterday for Thanksgiving break. Today I'm meeting up with Carter, he's been asking to meet up all month and I finally said yes.

So right now I'm in a cafe waiting for him, when he walks in he spots me and come over. "Hey Cleo thank you for coming." He says as he sit down "What do you wanna talk about?" I asked "Why isn't Brianna in jail?" He asked.

"I convinced the judge to let her off with a warning but we did put a restraining order on her so if she breaks that she'll go to jail and I can't help her." I said "Well that's still good." He said "And we let her stay overnight in there her Dad said she deserves it but her mom was pissed." I told him and we laughed a little.

Then we fell quiet until he broke it "Cleo I'm sorry for everything I did the lying, cheating, and blackmailing." I was gonna to say something "Please just let me finished I'm not here to beg you to take me back or anything. I'm here to say sorry and ask maybe can we start off new and be friends?" He asked.

"Wow college really did something on you." I said "I'm 19 I need to act like it." He said "Well if your sister marries Abigail you'll be apart of the family too so yes we can take a shot and try to be friends." I said "Thank you." He said as he got up so I did too, we hugged "See you Thursday?" I asked him, he nodded and waved bye as he left.

I left the cafe and was walking to Dunkin' Donuts when I saw my favorite cousin. I ran to him like I haven't saw him in years and hugged him "Hey Cleo." Bryson said as he hugged me back "Hey Cous." I said as I pulled back "Where are you heading to?" He asked "In Dunkin' Donuts to get me and my girlfriend some donuts." I said.

"Shut up you have a girlfriend? When did this happen?" He asked as we went inside "Well we was talking but we officially got together on my birthday." I said "You don't tell me nothing." He said pouting "Well I'm sorry." I said throwing my arm around his shoulders.

"I'll forgive you if you buy me a frozen Chocolate." I laughed and we did our handshake "You got it." I got me and Sam's donuts and I got Bryson one too and our drinks. "Is your girlfriend coming Thursday?" He asked "No she's going to be with her family." I said as we started walking to my car "Did you meet them?" "Yeah at her graduation." I said, we talked for a little longer until he left. I got in my car and drove over to Sam's place.

I opened the door, put the stuff on the table and went in the kitchen and washed my hands. "Babe?" I called out, I heard the water in the bathroom turn off and a couple minutes later Sam came out. "Hey babe I got you some donuts and a drink." I said as I went over to her, her eyes are red.

"Have you been crying? What happened?" I asked "I'm fine Cleo." What did I do? She don't call me by my name "Are you mad at me? What did I do?" I asked wrapping my hands around her waist, she takes them off and go to her room. I let her get dressed and waited until she came back out, I was drinking my drink when she put her phone on the table.

I picked it up and look at what's on the screen, it was pictures of me in the cafe with Carter and me hugging him. There was some pictures of me and Bryson, the video showed me running up to Bryson and when we pulled back it looked like we kissed. The text message below it says 'This wouldn't be my girlfriend if I was you.'

I put her phone down "You think I'm cheating on you?" I asked her. She didn't say nothing. What? "I love you and you know that. Carter wanted to talk about why Brianna wasn't in jail and Bryson is my cousin." I said raising my voice a little "If that's your cousin then why did you kiss him?" She asked "I didn't kiss him the video made it look like that." Her face looked uncertain "So you don't trust me." I said.

She didn't say anything, I grabbed my keys and my drink "Where are you going?" She asked as I opened the door "You wanna listen to a video instead of me and if you don't trust me then I don't need to be here." I said as I closed the door behind me, I got in my car and drove home trying not to cry.

Once I got in front of my house I broke down, all because of some pictures. I understand why she'll be mad about Carter but she don't believe me. I wiped my tears away and went inside "Cleo what happened?" Lily asked "I don't wanna talk about it." I told her as I went to my room

I put on some leggings and Sam's hoodie and turned off the lights and just sat in the dark inhaling Sam's scent. Claire came in the room with a bowl of ice cream and cookies. She handed it to me and we cuddled in bed and ate the ice cream and cookies. "Thanks Claire." I said.

"Did they cheer you up?" She asked "Yeah a little but you did most of the work." I said putting the bowl on my nightstand, she smiled "Good now lets go to sleep." She said which caused me to laugh. We laid down for a couple minutes and I finally fell asleep.
