Kath's POV:
I turned and looked at the restaurant door. The street lamps created an eerie glow against the darkness of the night. My hair was dripping on the pavement and my dress clung to my body from the pouring rain, but none of that mattered. Not right now. Right now, all that mattered was the man in front of me. Out of the door walked someone I once knew, my former friend, and a man I had loved. A man I still-. I felt my lips separate ever so slightly as he advanced towards me. He said nothing. His eyes did all of the talking. The rain grew louder. So loud I nearly shouted. "Elliot! What are you doing here?." He didn't say a word. He took another step towards me, his chest was inches from mine. He stared down at me with an emotion I couldn't quite place. Mystery... or was it passion? My eyes were wide. I knew in that moment what I wanted more than anything else in the world. I understood why the things in my life aligned in the way that they had- to bring me this moment. He towered over me. I could feel his cool breath as it swept past my face. His eyes glistened under the starlight. "Elliot..." My words cut through the damp night like a knife. "I love you,
Elliot." I gazed into his eyes. "And I've never stopped." I was crying now. Tears of joy, triumph, relief, and pain. But the pain wasn't within me. It was being released through my words. Years of wondering and waiting all came down to this. This moment of love and romance. Suddenly, Elliot grabbed my waist and laid his lips upon my own. A kiss like none I had ever felt before. A gift like none I'd ever received. I was suddenly taken back to that night years ago, where my life changed forever. He held me for what seemed like forever. Upon releasing me, he leaned in close to my ear. "I love you Kath." His words echoed like waves in the night. I saw my future then and there. Standing in front of me against the blackness of the night sky. One full of love and life. I knew then that this love of ours wasn't by chance. It wasn't destiny. It was a love like no other. And as I raised my hand to his cheek, he kissed me once more.
