it's been almost two weeks since the incident in the library, you've steered clear of malfoy ever since. He's tried to get you to talk to him but you've ignored his presence the entire time. every class you have together, he's watching you ignore him. you're trying to just completely block him out and act like you never met him, that would be best.

on a happier note, you and Ron have become much closer. you think Hermione might have some worries since you hang out with him every single day, but you and Ron are like super close friends and you're willing to reassure her of that.

it's valentine's day in a few days, hogwarts sounds like it would be magical on valentine's.

cards everywhere, gifts handed out.

as much as you love it, you don't really participate in finding a valentine's partner. you don't have any love interests at hogwarts, you're more focussed on friendships and school. besides, no one is interested in you right?

you brush the thought off and keep walking down the hall, you're trying to find Ron. He recently lost Scabbers and well... you found him. Holding this little rat is not fun for you, but you just try to move as fast as possible.

Scabbers is surprisingly cooperative.

while walking down the hall you hear faint laughter, looking up and seeing... yup, Malfoy. "uh..." you look around fast and hide behind a wall, hoping he didn't see you. you look down at Scabbers who is squirming a little as you hear them walk past.

you wait for them to disappear and walk out slowly, you sigh in relief and begin walking. until someone pulls you back, you jump and look to see who it is, almost dropping Scabbers but getting ahold of him fast. "Malfoy!" "ah you're speaking to me!" he says with excitement.

"n-no... no i'm not" "you are right now" "no, i'm not... i have to go" "wait, can you just actually talk to me..." "no, why should i?" "because i just want to talk, i hate that you are ignoring me" "why do you even care, look i have to get this to Ron" "He's right there" he nods toward you.

you turn around and see Ron approaching, you sigh in relief as he approaches you.

"Ron! i found Scabbers" he gasps loudly and takes the rat from your hands, "scabbers!" he smiles. You watch him with a smile then look back to see that Draco is still standing there. you wonder why he's so determined to get you to talk to him.

"uh Ron we should go find Hermione" "what?" "yeah come on" you start to hurry him away, "y/n!" Draco sighs, you ignore him once again and walk away with Ron. "what was that?" Ron asks gently, "nothing... i'm still ignoring him. i don't know why he wants me to talk to him"

"i think you should" you turn to him with a confused expression. "look i know he's like Malfoy and everything, but i think you should talk" "why would i? i'm not even friends with him. never have been" "y/n... you guys kinda flirt" "what?!" you shout loudly as you stop walking. "okay you almost made Scabbers run away again" says Ron sternly

"what do you mean flirt? i do not flirt with him" "you guys are constantly at each others throats. at the dance you guys looked like a couple, and in class you always have this tension" "god ron! that's so gross" "come on, think about it" "no, it's not true. i wouldn't flirt with him, Malfoy? no" "alright..."

you begin biting your nails anxiously.

"i don't even know how to flirt" "y/n you're dragging this conversation on" you look at him and realise he's right. why keep talking about it if you know it's not true right? "so Ron, it's valentine's soon. you doing anything for Hermione?" "uh... no..." "what? come on. a card atleast"

"i don't know..." his voice trails off.

you think of a way to speed things up with them and gasp lightly when you realise. "well, i hear one of the students in the year above us has a crush on her" he turns to you, his cheeks going pink. "what?" "yeah... a guy, he likes her. rumour is he's planning on asking her out on valentine's day"

you can see a confused and almost sad look in his eye, "who is it?" "i'm not sure, don't remember the name. but i think you should beat him to it" Ron suddenly starts shushing you, you go to tell him not to be rude and ignore you but hear him shout "Hermione!"

you look over and see Hermione and Harry approaching.

"hey Hermione" "hey..." she says kinds coldly. you furrow your brows and look towards Harry for answers, but he shrugs. "so, we all have potions soon" you clear your throat, but it stays pretty quiet. "right... i'm gonna go grab a book i left in my room actually, i'll see you guys soon"

"Y/n" says Ron as you begin walking away "see ya Ron" you smile and walk faster. you wonder what is wrong with everyone today, or if you did something wrong. you keep walking at a fast pace and without noticing, bump into someone. "oh i'm so sorry" you see their face and recognise them from Draco's group-
