Cioccolata got a hold of his phone. He had less than a few minutes, he needed to act fast. Giorno, his current enemy, was approaching the helicopter. The mad doctor had detached half of his body, hiding from the enemies. He was going to attack from the shadows. He had everything prepared. Even if he was sure of his abilities, he had a sinking feeling in his stomach. As if it was telling him that his enemy would defeat him.

The sickening feeling made him do what he was about to do. It was risky – getting distracted with his phone when the enemy could attack him at any given moment. But he needed to call you. This might be his last moments and he wanted – no, needed – to hear you.

So he picked his phone up and dialed your number. As expected it ringed a few times before going to voicemail. You were a busy woman, a part of Passione as well. A small sigh left his lips. He really got his hopes up.

"This is (Y/N). Right now I'm busy so leave your message here." He was used to hearing the prerecorded message. Your voice brought a smile to his face. He waited for the beep to sound before speaking up.

"It's me, sugar." He started simply. He had no idea what to say to you. He should've probably gathered his thoughts beforehand, damn it! Was there something extraordinary to say to you? No, he had said everything to you. Shared every memory, every secret with one another. You were his girlfriend after all. And he loved you more than anything in this world. Even if he enjoyed the suffering of others, he would never hurt you in any way. Cioccolata heard something from outside the helicopter which made him return to the message.

"You know how much I love you right? I have loved you ever since I met you." his breath hitched in his throat as the memory resurfaced. Cioccolata shook his head, there was no time to think about that right now; he didn't have enough time. Sighing, he tilted his head back to rest it against the hard metal. He closed his eyes, the image of you popping into his mind.

"I'm on a mission, and as I see, you are as well. But I fear this time I might not make it for dinner." His statement didn't make any sense. It was past midnight by now, why would he be waiting for dinner? It just didn't many any sense!

Either way, he chuckled darkly before his face as well as his voice turned serious. "The traitors that the boss sent me after... they did a number on me." He paused. What about Secco? Why wasn't he helping Cioccolata if he was alright? If he ever got out alive, he would make sure to punish him.

"I really hope you are alright my dear. I know I'm probably interrupting something very important, but I needed to send this to you. Those might be my last moments."

"There's truly nothing else I need to tell you. I've shared everything with you, all of my secrets, all of my ambitions." The doctor suddenly stopped. There was a slight rumble from outside. "I'm happy I got to spend my life with you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, sugar." He continued, his voice shaking. He didn't want to die – if he did die, he wouldn't ever wake up again to your beautiful face. Or to your breakfast and to your hugs. He didn't want to lose all of this. You were the light in his life, the only other thing besides other's suffering that brought him genuine happiness.

"They are closing in, dear. I do not have enough time." Cioccolata whispered, trying to hide his fear. "I love you. do not ever forget that." He paused. "I'll be waiting for you in the afterlife."

He hung up.

You heard all of it, all of the message. Your phone was a few centimeters away from you, on the floor. It was so close, yet you couldn't pick it up. You wanted to pick up, talk to your lover, tell him that everything will be alright. But your body was already too weak to do that.

To put it short: the mission has failed. You failed, giving the enemy the opportunity to injure you gravely. A large stab wound to the stomach – you would die in minutes. There was not enough time. No one would be able to reach your location in time to help you. Your enemy has escaped now, leaving you all alone in the room.

You had lost all hope. You were dying and no one would be able to save you. what hurt the most was the fact that you would leave Cioccolata all alone in the world. And he needed you more than anything.

When you heard the phone ring, your heart skipped a beat. You knew just who it was. You tried crawling over to it using your hands, only for them to lose their final power and for you to fall back on the ground. You were now laying on the floor, bleeding out as you listened to what Cioccolata was saying.

By the time he had finally hung up, you were sobbing. Was this really it? he mentioned the afterlife; did he fear he wouldn't be able to make it? your cries slowly died down as you simply didn't have the power to do that. Soon after your breaths got swallow until they finally stopped, along with your heart.

It seems like you would be the one waiting for him.
