I filled two sketchbooks in less than a month and I just got my new one; I've been hit by a wave of inspiration and I haven't stopped drawing all day long so I decided to take a break and write this. Also, I absolutely love PB Dio.

Running your fingers through the dirty locks of your hair, you walked the almost empty London streets. It was a cold autumn night and you had still not found your best friend. He had promised you to meet up again today, so why was he missing? Did he simply forget about your little arrangement? No, he never forgot about your meetings. He was your best friend, your partner in crime, he would never abandon you. The boy knew your pain and shared quite the same fate. Yet, he still had a roof above his head and food to eat.

Stopping in front of an inn, you peered inside. The owner knew you and your friend all too well – you often stopped here to watch your friend play chess or cards with random drunken men. And sometimes, if you were both lucky enough, he'd earn some money from a bet. Often he'd spend them on a meal or two for you, seeing as you were living on the streets. He was surely an interesting individual. With other people around him, he would always seem cold. His attitude often turned violent. But you were used to it, to the lack of empathy towards others. He had told you all about his ambitions and dreams – all of them were bold. Usually, he wouldn't even look at someone asking for spare change or help, but with you it was different. Towards you, he always showed some kind of care, even if it was minimal. After all, you had grown up together.

Cautiously stepping inside, you looked around the room until you finally spotted the gold-haired boy. He was sitting on one of the tables and in front of him was a large, most probably drunk, man. A smile spread across your face. Swiftly, you made your way over to him and sat beside the boy. "Hi, Dio." You greeted. A tiny smirk made its way onto his thin lips. He didn't look at her and instead focused on the chessboard before him. "Good to see you too, (Y/N)." Looking down at the table, you noticed that the man had almost lost. Dio couldn't hide his smirk at the upcoming win. The man lifted his shaky hand over the queen chest piece and moved it. You and Dio shared a knowing look. The man had just put himself in checkmate.

Filled with confidence Dio moved his chest piece and looked right into the man's eyes. "Checkmate. I win!". Chuckling alongside your best friend you watched as the man pushed a few coins your way. He was clearly against it. Those were quite a lot – the most that Dio had ever earned. The man's face held a scowl, glaring down at the two kids before him.

Helping Dio in counting the coins you looked at his angelic face. "Where were you? I searched for you!" you couldn't hide the slight pouting in your voice. The boy only chuckled low and returned the look. "I got caught up in the game with this wonderful fellow." As he replied, venom laced his voice at the mention of the drunken man. They earned yet another chuckle from you. Unknown to you, the man had caught all of your conversations. His mind was slow at processing the information, the alcohol slowing him down. "You'd not believe what a game it was, (Y/N)! Even for a dumb ape, he did play well.". Dio's amber eyes met yours, full of glee over the win.

Just as you were about to reply, the man bent down and grabbed onto the boy's shirt. Pulling him up to meet his gaze, the man shouted. "Who are you calling dumb, you runt?" Your friend's gleeful eyes soon darkened and were replaced with a glare. "Let me down." He demanded, in his low velvet tone. "I won fair and square. If your small ape brain can't even accept defeat then-"

Dio never got to finish his insult as the man holding him captive landed a punch to his face. The boy fell to the ground, blood running down his nose. The man landed another punch at his face, before snatching away from his hands the few coins he was holding. Furiously, you grabbed the nearest sharp thing and aimed at his face. It turns out forks are pretty good for stabbing someone's face.

The tips of the fork tore his cheek and the man let out an animalistic screech. By now everyone in the inn was looking your way, curious gazes following your every move. The man stumbled down, dropping the coins you earned. You kneeled down, grabbing as much as you could before turning to your best friend. He stood on the ground, a nasty bruise forming on his left cheek. Wrapping your arm around his form, you pulled him up. Quickly making your way out of the room, you walked out in the cold night again. Behind you, you could hear the shouts of an angry innkeeper.

With Dio wrapped around your shoulder, you made your way over to an empty alley. Sitting him down against the wall you sat across from him. He raised his hand and tried to brush away the blood from his nose with a grunt. He only smeared it around his face. It made you giggle and you reached into your pockets searching for a napkin. Once you found it, you leaned in to clean his face. "(Y/N)" he spoke low, catching you off guard. Your movements slowed down before they stopped. Your eyes met his amber ones once again tonight. But this time his gaze was cold, making you gulp and freeze in your spot. His hands came up to yours, holding them. "My plan is starting to work."

You remember him telling you all about it – overthrow the rich. Earn power. This was his only ambition! Your body grew even colder. "H-How?" was all you managed to mumble. A mischievous smile spread over his lips. "My father saved a man's life once. After that old man died, he promised to take me in." he leaned in closer to you, barely containing his childish excitement. "That was Mr. Joestar. I'm going to live with them (Y/N).". Your eyes widened in surprise. Joestar? That rich family? But they lived so far away. How would you be able to see your only friend? Tears burned at the corners of your eyes, threatening to fall. You couldn't lose him. "B-but Dio..." your breath got caught up in your throat. "I...you'll leave me all alone."

His excitement suddenly vanished, his face returning to the usual stone expression. He would live far from you. How hasn't he thought about that? After a small silent pause, a soft smile spread on his face. The one and only, Dio Brando, was had a small soft smile staring at you. It was the first time, seeing the boy smile in such away. His hand came up to cup one of your cheeks. "I'll come back for you, (Y/N)," he whispered. You let your tears fall and leaned in. "Promise me? Please, Dio." You begged, faces centimeters away from his. You could practically feel heat radiate off of him. "I promise you." His lips connected with yours.
