WE ONLY SEE EACH OTHER AT WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

"thought I found a way out,
but you never go away"

2019

"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?"

(Y/N) ran out of the house and to the courtyard, where all her siblings were crowded in front of some... some... what words could even be used to describe this massive swirling blue portal?

"Don't get too close!" Allison said, pulling his arm back to stop him from moving further, as Luther stepped a little too close to the strange and frightening whirlpool.

Diego scoffed and yelled out, "yeah, no shit."

"What is it?" Vanya asked worriedly as (Y/N) approached the group and pushed through Luther and Diego's barricade they had made using their arms. Even when there was a potentially dangerous and unknown... thing... floating mid-air, in their backyard, they still managed to slip in an opportunity to compete for leadership.

"Looks like some sort of temporal anomaly. Either that or a miniature black hole. One of the two," Luther answered.

"Yeah, pretty big difference there, Paul Bunyan." Diego shot back, causing (Y/N) to flick him over the head and giving him an annoyed look. They had bigger things to worry about than who had a better comeback to reply with.

Out of nowhere, Klaus came running out with a fire extinguisher, probably grabbing after hearing the explosion, which now sounded more like lightning strikes, and screamed, "out of the way!" He threw the standard red fire extinguisher at the portal and it disappeared into thin air.

"What's that gonna do?!" Allison cried out to him.

"I don't know, you got a better idea?" He shot back at her. When the blue hole continued to explode with larger bursts of electricity, Klas stumbled backwards to the group and was shielded behind Luther and Diego.

"Everyone, get behind me," Luther commanded.

"Yeah, get behind us," Diego repeated after him, not wanting to lose any authority to him.

Klaus clumsily walked backwards and said to the others, "I vote for running, c'mon!"

If (Y/N) wasn't so instantaneously interested in the flashing blue and white portal, she would've agreed with Klaus. Her family's safety was one of the most important things to her no matter how irritatingly exhausting they were, but she couldn't help but feel like it was calling her — pulling her in — as she watched and edged closer as the portal crackled and popped, both Luther and Diego calling out to her to get back, but neither brave enough to run out and get her.

Then she saw... was that... an outstretched arm?

A head. The top of a head coming along with it. It had black hair and was styled just like—

"FIVE?!"

(Y/N) was filled with a surge of hope and frantically looked around the courtyard for something she could use to reach up and grab the boy.

Allison noticed this and anxiously asked, "(Y/N)? What are you doing?"

She ignored her siblings and put down a step ladder she found by the wall.
