WE ONLY SEE EACH OTHER AT WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

"so heaven,
if you sent us down"

2019

"SO YOU'RE A OLD MAN now, huh?" (Y/N) leaned against Five's bedroom doorframe, watching him as he tried to pick out the best outfit in his wardrobe despite all of them being made almost identically. They were just his old uniforms.

Five turned around, startled, but once he saw (Y/N) standing by his door like he'd seen so many times in the past, his previously agitated expression softened. He took a hesitant step towards her, wondering if she'd back away from him, but when she stayed put, he staggered quickly towards her and engulfed her in a tight hug.

"I— I'm so, so sorry." He choked, "I shouldn't have left you— I shouldn't have tried—"

"Shh... Shh... It's okay..." (Y/N) returned the hug and gently caressed his hair to calm him down.

This was the Five she knew.

The side he'd saved only for her. Whenever anyone else was around, he would revert back to his contemptuous and sarcastic self, but with (Y/N), he didn't feel like having the need to put on a face or choose the right words. He could spill everything out and she would pick him up and piece him back together. She was his diazepam, if you would.

"I've missed you." (Y/N) intertwined her fingers in his hair, pulling him closer into the hug, if that was even possible.

"Same here," he mumbled into her neck. As long as the two had wanted to stay in that position forever, Five was back here on a mission. And it had a deadline.

The boy slowly pulled back but kept (Y/N) at a close distance. That, however, was a mistake because the girl then raised her hand and slapped him hard, right across the face, and leaving a mark. "That's for going too far and messing up the coordinates," she smiled sweetly.

Five rubbed his cheek and frowned, "well you can't just blame me. You did most of the equations, you know." He sighed, shaking his head, " nevermind that for now. I promise I'll explain everything later."

"Why not now?"

"Well, not now because I haven't had a shower in a while and I need to get out of this huge suit," Five chuckled.

(Y/N)'s cheeks were dusted a light pink as she stepped back out of the room quickly, "yeah. Yeah, sorry about that. It's just... it's nice to see you again after such a long time."

"I know, it's been even longer for me. 45 years." He nodded in agreement, "I'll be downstairs in a moment."

"Okay, I'll be waiting, so don't go running off again," the girl joked as she gave him a small wave of goodbye.

Five stared at her for a moment before slowly closing the door. He leaned against it for a second to regain his composure, "I won't..."

THE RAIN HAD ALREADY STARTED to pour down. It was perfect timing, really, to have started just before the funeral was about to take place.

Everyone crowded around in a small circle with Luther, standing in the middle, carrying their father's ashes. Everyone but him and Diego had black umbrellas, except for Klaus who had a tiny semi-transparent pink umbrella.
