WE ONLY SEE EACH OTHER AT WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

"ooh, crazy's what they think about me,
ain't gonna stop cause they tell me so"

2019

"HEY, YOU DON'T LOOK SO good, there, buddy." Klaus came by (Y/N)'s room and watched as she slumped over her bed like a dead fish. "What's up with you?"

They were only 14, but Klaus had so much experience — unfortunate to say by first-hand — in looking out for withdrawal symptoms and could spot one immediately whenever he came across someone who had them.

"Dad couldn't order a new supply of the pills this week," (Y/N) kicked her legs up against the wall her bed was next to. "He says I'll have to stay in my room for most of the day."

It was then, Klaus had one of his bright ideas. Some would say it wasn't as bright as he thought it was, but compared to the other thoughts he had stored up in his brain, this one was definitely one of the more helpful ones.

He dug his hands into his back pocket, between his pants and boxers, where no one would ever look, and pulled out a small bag of white powder. "Well then," he said. "Let's make the best of it, shall we?"

(Y/N) scrunched up her nose and faked a gagging noise, "you want me to snort that up my nose after you just got that out of your pants? No way. I'll pass."

"There's plastic over it! Come on, it'll take away the itching feeling you have."

(Y/N) paused for a moment in thought, then patted her hand on the space beside her, grinning. "Fine, I guess it can't hurt to try just a little."

EVERYONE WAS SITTING AWKWARDLY IN the living room sipping on drinks. (Y/N) and Klaus had been the last two to arrive and Luther cleared his throat before getting up and taking the lead. As always.

"Um... I guess we should get this thing started," he said. (Y/N) was barely paying any attention to the 'family meeting', sitting on one of the single couches with her feet hanging off the armrests and her back on the other. Klaus was pouring himself a drink by the bar. "So I figured we could have a sort of memorial service. Say a few words, at the courtyard during sundown, just at dad's favourite spot."

Allison spoke up, "dad had a favourite spot?" Oh god, Allison. Why did you have to ask?

"You know, under the oak tree." Luther said, trying to jog the other's memories, but when they just stared at him in confusion, he said, "we used to sit out there all the time. None of you did that?"

When no one replied, Klaus came back from the bar with a joint in his mouth and a full glass of whiskey in hand. "Will there be refreshments? Tea? Scones? Cucumber sandwiches are always a winner."

"What? No!" Luther huffed, "put that out, dad doesn't allow smoking in here." Everyone ignored him.

"Is that my skirt?" Allison pointed at Klaus's bottom half while (Y/N) took a sip of her drink, watching the whole scene play out.

"What? Oh yeah, this. I found it in your room." Klaus gave everyone a small pose, waving his hands around. "It's a little dated, I know, but it's very breathy on the bits."
