WE ONLY SEE EACH OTHER AT WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS
"picture book, when you were just a baby,
those days when you were happy, a long time ago"
2019
AS (Y/N) WAS TRYING TO find the others, she heard a loud shuffling and clacking of drawers coming from her father's study. She stopped in her tracks and took a couple of steps back, taking a look at who might have been the cause of the noise.
Just looking at the room made her stomach churn with anger and hatred.
"Your children are ready to say goodnight, sir!" Grace, their robotic mother, had announced to their father with the usual cheeriness to her voice. After all, she was built to keep the house in order, so she never acknowledged anything that triggered or caused the children or Reginald to be anything other than happy.
She turned around to open the wooden doors, revealing all eight of them standing together in their own bored manner. They knew what was going to happen, just like every other night. Grace turned back to Reginald with a look that said, 'say something, please!' However, the old man didn't even spare a single glance at them, keeping quiet and writing in his notebook.
Grace, still trying to keep up the act, then started to push the children back into the hallway. "Okay! Time for bed now, kids. Come along now... Come along now!"
The others begin to leave, but both Allison and (Y/N) stayed put. Five had noticed this and came back to retrieve (Y/N) before she could say something that wouldn't end too well. "Let's go, (N/N). He's not worth it..." He had whispered in her ear, gently pulling at her hand. Finally, she gave in and followed Five back to their rooms with a furious glare.
"Come along now, Allison. Your father's busy." Grace said to the remaining girl, turning her around by the shoulders.
Allison didn't resist but made sure to leave her father a snide remark to make sure he knew she was mad at him, "he's always busy."
By this time, Allison had also come up from behind her, also very interested as to what was happening in their father's study, so she took a bold step into the room, something neither of them would have dared to do as children, and cautiously walking towards the desk.
"Where's the cash, dad?" (Y/N) heard someone mumbling underneath the desk, then again. "Where's the cash, dad?"
Allison looked at (Y/N), confused, but she simply shrugs in reply. Allison said, "Klaus, what are you doing?"
Suddenly, Klaus's head popped out from under the desk in surprise, peeking out at his two sisters and looking very guilty himself. "Oh! Allison! (Y/N)!" He stands up and put his hands together, "wow, Allison, is that you? Hey, come here..."
He pulled her in by the shoulder for a hug in greeting and Allison looked glad to be able to be back with her brother.
Once Klaus pulled away, he said, "too long... Hey, I was hoping to see you actually, because I wanted to get your autograph and..." he put his hands under his chin in a cute pose, "add it to my collection!"
(Y/N) chuckled at his words. Oh, how obvious it was to see through his lies. Though, it was probably because she herself had been the one to lie through her teeth to get any cash for drugs. At least she had a little more self-control on her intake nowadays compared to when she and Klaus were teenagers.
