She didn't wait for his body to go cold. She didn't stand and watch as his lips turned a sickly shade of blue. She didn't allow a sob to escape her lips or for her body to shake. She didn't even wipe the blood from her knife before tucking it into the side of her ankle boot. She did, however, look back at the very last second and feel her heart fall through her stomach.

Murder. Pure murder. Self defensive? Sure. But it was unequivocally, one hundred percent, cold blooded murder - and she hadn't thought twice about it.

In some ways, she had enjoyed it. Relished in it even. The satisfying crunch as the knife sliced through his skin and scraped across his jawbone. Watching the light leave his dark brown eyes. The shocked expression on his face as he realized he'd lost. It almost disgusted her how much she had like it. Almost.

What would Hollie think?

Killing had become second nature to her - to anybody. In this world you had no other choice but to put yourself first and if you didn't, you would cease to exist. So, as she clutched at her forearm she thanked her lucky stars that the bullet pierced her skin and not her heart. Screams echoed in every direction around her, attacking her ears and adding to the growing panic of finding Nicole dead rather than alive. All she needed was gun.

A few meters ahead of her, just north of Alexandria's gates stood the Medical Bay but Lou's attention was primarily focused on the teenage boy, attempting to defending himself against his attacker just west of her. A rifle was held between them, pointed directly between the eyes of the bruised 'W' that stood crouched on the floor. He was frozen in place with a cunning smirk plastered across the bottom half of his bloodied, pale face. In one swift movement he threw his right arm at the barrel of the gun and swung his legs outwards, colliding with the young boy's calves and sending him backwards onto his but. The rifle flew into the air and clattered as it collected with the concrete. Quickly, the attacker retrieved the weapon. He loaded the chamber and aimed but before he had the chance to apply pressure to the trigger Lou connected her heel with the back of his knee. His bones crunched on impact.

"Hey asshole" she shouted down to him as he dropped to his good knee and yelped in pain. "Why don't you pick on someone your own size"

She yanked the rifle out of his grip and connected the butt of the gun with his forehead. He quickly dropped to the floor. "This'll do nicely"

"Enid get back inside" the boy shouted behind him, picking a Sherriff's hat up from the floor and placing it firmly on the top of his head.

"You Carl?" Lou breathed, adjusting her grip on her new toy. He simply nodded in reply. "Spencer said Nicole was with you. She here?"

"Nah" he said, shaking his head quickly "She was helping Denise, we left just before the town was attacked"

"Okay, you guys get back inside. Do not open the door to anyone you don't know"

"Hey!" he called after her as she began walking away "You seen my dad?"

"Last time I saw him was just before the horn went off. Left him with Michonne. I'm sure he's fine Carl"

"You're arm, you're hurt"

"I'm still alive Carl. Get back inside"

Her body was still shaking. The adrenaline was slowly wearing off and she could feel herself growing tired - she didn't have long before loss rendered her useless. Carefully, she darted behind a Nissan, her blood soaked back pressing against the chipped red paint as she waited for her moment to transfer covers.

She increased her speed and began jogging across the courtyard, dodging stray bullets as she moved. Dead bodies lay scattered across the sidewalk, both walker and human alike. She had contributed to that. The streets were now painted a sickly shade of red and gunshots rang out in all directions. She, herself, was growing week and pain radiated through her but number one on her list of priorities was finding Nicole. Alive.

- I really enjoyed writing this chapter guys! The first interaction with her and Carl!
