Chapter 15: The Beast and the Devil

The next day came quickly, the time is already 20:00. Hisashi and Hisoka still haven't gone to the place where the kickoff for the warfare will take place. The reason? Flame was scared to be alone.

"S-Sensei, c-can't I just come with you?" Flame asked, sobbing as she sat at the end of the bed. She was holding Hisashi's hand tightly who stood in front of her, afraid to let go. Hisashi can't blame her. Flame has been alone all this time. She received no help and comfort when she had undergone through everything that she witnessed. It was normal for her to be afraid to be alone, since she thinks that she needs to undergo through the same experience once again.

"I told you already, Flame, you can't. It would be too dangerous. You haven't even mastered your Zetsu and we will be too occupied to even protect you, so just stay here and train to be stronger, okay?" She explained for the nth time, trying to soothe the crying kid but Flame's persistency really gets in the way.

"But Sensei, you and that guy are strong, right?! You can do it even if I'm there!" Flame insisted, making her sigh and crouch down in front of her. She had noticed how Flame always addressed Hisoka as 'that guy' and how Hisoka calls her 'the kid.' It has been like that ever since. It seems like the two didn't want each other's presence. Flame only calls him that because she was scared of him. But the reason why Hisoka doesn't address her with her name and barely even spares a glance at her is unknown.

"How about this, then." She held both of Flame's shoulders. "I will leave someone here to accompany you and to take care of you. He will also train you in my place." She smiled softly, trying to convince Flame. Flame sniffed, shaking her head.

"I don't want to. I don't want someone like that guy." Flame was pertaining to Hisoka, that's for sure.

"Don't worry, the person I'm entrusting you to isn't like Hisoka. You're scared of Hisoka, right? This person I'm letting you meet isn't scary. He's very, very kind. He's just like me. So, what do you say?" Flame sniffed again, wiping her tears.

"Is what you're saying true?" Flame asked. She stood up, putting both of her hands on her hips.

"Since when did Sensei lie to you?" She asked with a smile, earning a smile from Flame. She sighed in relief, feeling a burden off her shoulder. "Okay, then, I will call him out now. Don't tell Hisoka, okay?" She winked at Flame who nodded enthusiastically. Fortunately, Hisoka hasn't seen the person she was talking about when she called him out two months ago. She plans on hiding that, since it was agreed that it would be a secret.

She took her right hand out, sticking her pinky finger out. "Promise me you won't tell anyone." Flame smiled widely, linking her own pinky finger to hers.

"Yes! I promise to not tell anyone about Sensei's secret!" Hisashi nodded, letting go of Flame's pinky. She took a few steps back, making Flame tilt her head to the right.

"Yon, come forth." Flame's eyes sparkled, seeing how a figure materialized in front of her, forming into a tall cloaked man. "Yon, will you remove your hood? You'll scare the kid." Hisashi said, crossing her arms. Yon turned his head to look at her, staying silent as if he was reading her. Flame only looked up to them curiously.

"So I'm on the babysitting, huh?" Yon asked in a low voice, making Hisashi shake her head.

"Not the normal babysitting. You can train her just like how you always did to Juu. She can catch up, I guarantee you that." Yon sighed, scratching his forehead.

"So she's your student? You took a student in when you can't even watch your back in a battle?" Hisashi glared at him.

"I didn't ask for your opinion, Mister Know-It-All." Yon scoffed, turning to look at Flame whose eyes were shining in curiosity.

"I'm stuck with babysitting.. again." Yon inwardly groaned with the task Hisashi left to him.

"Don't bullshit me, Yon. I know you can slay in babysitting." He immediately turned towards Hisashi, removing his hood and revealing his silvery hair and eyes. His majestic silver eyes glared at her, a vein in his forehead almost popping.

"Watch your mouth, you dumb beast." She laughed when he only mouthed the last three words. "There's a kid in here." He scolded her, making her shake her head.

"See? You can slay in babysitting.. or more like, parenting." She teased, averting her gaze to Flame whose eyes were sparkling while staring at Yon. "Look, she's mesmerized by your looks."

"That can't be helped." Yon said, shrugging. Hisashi pointed her index finger at him just like how a mother would scold her child.

"Thank me for that. I basically made you." He scoffed at what she said.

"You make it sound like you're my mother."

"That's basically what it's like!"

"I'm a year older and I'm smart. You being my mother just doesn't make sense."

Hisashi gasped, putting a hand over her chest. "The audacity of this kid!"

They both darted their gazes towards Flame who suddenly bursted into laughter. They exchanged looks, confused as to what the kid found funny. Flame suddenly jumped from the bed, running towards Yon and hugging his waist. She looked up to him, smiling.

"I like you! Can you be my boyfriend?" Hisashi stifled a laugh while Yon's eyes widened. "Can you, can you, can you?!" Flame's eyes were sparkling.

"N-No." He shook his head, weirded out by the thought that he, a 24-year-old grownup man, would date an 11-year-old girl. Flame frowned at his answer.

"He can be your father, kiddo." Hisashi giggled as Flame's face lit up, clearly liking the idea of Yon being her father.

"Yes!" Flame looked up at Yon, smiling widely. "You will be my papa!" Yon sighed, giving up. Kids can really be persistent.

"Well, then, I'm leaving you two. Bye~" Hisashi exited the room, leaving Yon there with Flame who was now his 'child.' He scratched his forehead, removing Flame's arms around his waist before kneeling to match her height.

"Your name is Flame, right?" Flame nodded with a wide smile. "Nice to meet you, Flame. My name is Yon Quixote. You know Nen, right? Then show me what you learned from that beast."

A few hours later, Flame could only cry in frustration and exhaustion.

"You're worse than Sensei!" She exclaimed at Yon who just chuckled. He made her do a hundred push-ups while maintaining her Ren. Every time she stopped or dropped, he made her start from scratch again.

"Sensei told me that you're very very kind but that's only because you're smiling all the time and Sensei said that you'd be just like her but you're not because you're even far more worsest than worst!" Yon shook his head with her exaggeration. Kids can be dramatic at times.

"Well, your Sensei is a beast, but I am a devil." He crossed his arms, putting on a stoic face. "Now, finish your task and you can sleep."

"No!"
