Chapter 3: A Night Beside Her

"So when do you plan to stop on following me?" Hisashi turned around, facing Hisoka who has been following her ever since they clashed. She's been going all around the city for a couple of hours already, hoping to make him stop but to no avail. Hisoka kept on following her without uttering a word of complain.

Hisoka's smile widened as she tilted her head to the left slightly.

"Until I beat you." Hisashi blinked multiple times with his response, a smirk forming on her lips.

"That might take a long time, Hisoka. If I move faster, you might lose me." She said in a singsong tone, crossing her arms.

"Oh, no, I won't." He raised his index finger and Hisashi immediately realized it. She used Gyo and checked her arm only to see Hisoka's bungee gum still connected to her.

"You haven't removed it yet?!" She asked, staring at him wide-eyed.

"No, I haven't, and I am not planning to. I don't plan on losing you." Hisoka walked closer, his arms crossed. "You're too valuable to lose."

"Ooh." She mused, quite moved by his words. "That was flattering, thank you." She winked and turned her back. "Suit yourself, then." In a blink of an eye, she disappeared from his sight. He blinked, raising his finger and pulling her back.

"This ability of yours is annoying!" She shouted from a few meters away from him, slumped on the ground making him chuckle.

"I'll take that as a compliment."

It was already 1 am when Hisashi decided to go home. She plopped on the floor with a loud thud. Hisoka twitched his left eye.

"Didn't that hurt?" He asked, removing the Bungee Gum from her arm without her noticing. She gets distracted easily, alright, and he's using that to his advantage.

"What did?" Hisashi asked back, her eyes closed. He hummed, scanning his eyes throughout her home.

"I see you got a body of a steel." He commented, a grin on his face seeing how homy her house is. It can make anyone feel welcomed and comfortable. Even him.

"No, my body's made of flesh and blood." Another thing about her is that she takes everything seriously when she's usually thinking about something else, and he realized that just now. But then, what might she be thinking? He wonders.

"Well, let's get moving." She stood up from the floor before looking at him. "Whaddya wanna eat?"

A few minutes later, Hisoka found himself eating the food that Hisashi cooked. She was sitting across him, also eating the food that she prepared. They ate in silence, their attentions darted towards the food.

When they finished eating, she cleaned the dishes afterwards, Hisoka just staring at her with his back leaning against the wall. He could try attacking her now that she's occupied with the dishes.

A card materialized in his hand and he threw it towards her, aiming for her head. She immediately looked back and raised her hand, catching the card between her index finger and middle finger.

"That was dirty." She commented, waving the card with her hand and throwing it back to him. He tilted his head to the left to dodge it but to his shock, it swerved to the direction right where his head is. Crap. How did that happen? If I don't dodge, I'll get killed. But before I could even do it, I'll get killed, too. I can't catch it with my hand, it's too fast. What should I do?

Before it could even reach him, someone caught the card making his eyes widen. That someone was no other than Hisashi who was just standing by the sink less than a second ago. She was grinning at him, holding the card with her index finger and thumb. She's fast!

"Let me finish first, alright?" She placed the card in his hand before skipping towards the sink and continued washing the dishes. He stood there, dumbfounded. His eyes are wide and his lips are parted in shock. For a moment there, his life flashed before his eyes.

She reacted just in time when he attacked her. She was also fast in wrapping her fingers with Nen to catch his card, but what baffled him the most was the fact that she was faster than the card despite moving a little later. He didn't even see how she moved.

He straightened his neck, his lips forming into a grin. Oh how I would love to break you, Hisa-chan.

Now that she showed another strength of hers, it made Hisoka's desire of winning against her in a battle to spike up. When that time comes, he would be sure to beat her, no matter what, no matter when. He would beat her.

And now, he sat on the corner of Hisashi's room, staring at her while she hummed and fixed her bed. She had just finished taking a bath after him while he sat there silently without a shirt on.

"Hey, Hisoka, would you mind sleeping next to me?" She asked as she sat on her bed, gazing towards Hisoka who had his damp hair down.

"I don't." Hisoka answered. She, then, motioned him to lay beside her. Her bed was huge, putting enough distance for them.

"No funny businesses, okay? I'm sleepy, so you sleep too." She told him, lying down and turning off the lamp on her bedside table and pulling the covers over her. "Night." She said in a muffled voice.

Hisoka only sat beside her, leaning against the headboard while his eyes are fixed on the lady sleeping beside him.

He was amazed, alright. Like, how can Hisashi sleep beside her own enemy? Why does she trust him so much? How sure is she that he won't try anything while she sleeps? He made his intentions clear that he was going to kill her yet she still welcomed him in her home, even treating him with warmth, letting him use her bathroom, offering him food, and to even sleep beside her. Just how careless can this girl get? However, as odd as it sounds, he just found himself laying down beside her, closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.

A few hours later, they were both in deep sleep, especially Hisoka who always had his guards up. He looked so peaceful while sleeping beside the lady he wanted to beat.

"How unusual." Illumi commented, standing at the corner of Hisashi's room while staring at two people sleeping beside each other on the bed. He was using Zetsu to conceal his presence. "Are they together?" He asked, crossing his arms.

"How strange." He shook his head, staring at Hisoka who was obviously in a deep sleep. "How rare." He commented, transferring his gaze towards Hisashi who was now close to falling from the bed.

"How did this happen? I wonder." He, then, disappeared from thin air, leaving the two behind.

Just as when Hisashi was about to fall on the floor, an arm encircled her waist, pulling her close and away from the end of the bed. She was a heavy sleeper since she didn't wake up.

"How troublesome." Hisoka murmured, fixing the covers above them and wrapping his arm around her even tighter. Strangely, he felt comfortable against her warmth. He sighed, closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep once again.

As the cold night passed, two bodies were snuggled close against each other. Not even sensing Illumi who saw them and was confused, it was proven that with each other by their sides, they don't care about anything.
