Chapter 26: Home

"Your efforts are futile! A wimp like you doesn't even deserve a Quixote's name!"

"You are supposed to be a shield! A shield that is unable to withstand a spear is useless, worthless!"

"How are you even my daughter when you don't even possess Nen?! A wuss, worthless, and a deadwood like you doesn't deserve any single atom of oxygen in this world! Why don't you just die?!"

Hisashi tilted her head to the right, shaking those thoughts away from her head. Why did I remember those, anyway? She asked herself, kicking the huge boulder in front of her and causing it to break — to shatter.

Soon enough, the fragments of the shattered rocks will flow along with the rain, into the streams, undergo extreme weather conditions, and will once again become a rock, stronger than its previous condition. Just like how he raised us.

"Hisashi-san!" She looked back and saw Gon waving at her. They were a few meters away from her. "What's wrong?!" He asked, his curious eyes focused on her. Behind him was Killua whose hands were inside his pocket and ahead of them was Hisoka who was looking at her with questioning eyes.

"Oh, it's nothing." She said, walking towards them and leaving the shattered boulder behind. Just like how she walked away from us, leaving us helpless and desperate. She shook those thoughts away as the two boys continued walking. Hisoka waited for her and walked beside her.

"It's not nothing." Hisoka said in a low voice. She looked at him with wide eyes.

"W-What do you mean?"

"You looked really troubled back there. You remembered something from your past, didn't you?" She stopped walking, making him stop, too. She lowered her head at what he said.

"W.. What makes you say that?" Hisoka knew that Hisashi thought that she could hide it all, but she couldn't. He can read her like an open book, and that was because of those months that they've spent without being away from each other for too long.

"On. You told me that it feeds on the grudge by the user. You have On, which only means that you had a terrible past."

"T-There was just a w-worm earlier that's why I looked so t-troubled." She stuttered, finding it hard to hide anything from Hisoka. What's wrong? Do I trust him that much?

"Hmm?" Hisoka hummed, unconvinced. "There's no way you'd destroy a huge boulder just because of a worm. Also, you are unfazed by everything, Hisa-chan. Everything unless it's sweets or a memory that you are trying hard to forget." As always, he was sharp. Too sharp for her liking and too sharp for her to even hide things from him. She knew that he'd know her secrets soon enough.

"You're wrong with the memory thingy." She lied, raising her head to look at him. She just hoped that he wouldn't notice that she was bluffing.

"Oh, really? What a waste. Well, that's okay." He turned his back at her, taking a card out and showing it to her. "It was just a theory anyway." Her expression almost faltered when she heard that. A theory, yet he got it all right?!

Hisoka threw the card he was holding in the air, her eyes following it. It was an ace card. She squinted her eyes, finally realizing. He aced me. He already knew why before he asked, saying that it was just his theory but he knew that it isn't. He knew for a fact that all his words are coated with certainty.

She looked at his back, sighing. I know what you're doing, Hisoka. She started to walk once again, speeding up to reach him and when she did, she told him something.
