Chapter 29: How They Escaped
"The Quixote siblings sure had it rough." Gon said, feeling heavy all of a sudden.
"Yeah. Quixotes are even worse than Zoldycks." Killua said, lying on the floor with his head beside Flame.
"And then? What happened after that?" Gon interrogated, curious as to what happened among the siblings.
"After two years, sensei was able to use her Nen and develop her abilities. However, it wasn't easy. After the death of his wife, Imelda, and the false eldest, Hime, Tiago blamed the other kids including sensei for losing his most important daughter, Hime." Flame brushed her hair using her fingers before proceeding to what she was saying.
"Tiago was obsessed with power and strength that he used his own children to build his own imaginary kingdom, with Hime being the King and Queen, Rei sensei as the shield, Ichi who was the other lady at the backyard as the center of defense along with Hachi who already lost the fight and Roku who was still inside. The spies were Yon nii-chan and San who was the man at the backyard, Shi who was the lady that San was carrying was the seer and the priestess, leaving Ni who also lost the fight already as the offense alongside Go, Shichi, Ku, and Juu who were still inside."
The moment she laid her eyes on Gon, she flinched, literally seeing smoke coming out of his ears as his eyebrows were furrowed, trying to understand what she said.
"There were so many names that I don't even know who's who." He mumbled.
"You don't have to remember all of their names. What's important is that you know what happened." Flame said, making him sigh in relief.
"That's good. My head was spinning." She only shook her head at his silliness.
"But I noticed, they're named after numbers." Killua pointed out, earning a nod from her.
"Yes, sensei is zero, Ichi is one, Ni is two, San is three, Yon nii-chan and Shi is four, and so on." She only cut the explanation short when she saw that Gon was about to explode with such explanations. He's always been bad at numbers.
"In short, they were like toys and weapons?" Gon asked, unsure, but when Flame nodded, he sighed in relief. "Now that's easier to understand!"
"Then? What happened?" Killua asked, urging her to continue.
"After disbanding the organization, he let his children do all the work for him as a punishment, leaving them with no rest for half a year." Both of the boys eyes almost popped out of their socket with what she said. "It was workload for approximately a hundred people, and there were only twelve of them. Tiago showed no remorse or mercy to them, even to the youngest one Juu who was four years old at that time."
"I want to punch that Tiago." Gon said seriously, his eyes darkening.
"Yeah. I want to rip his heart out." Killua said, sitting up.
"Well, after two years though, they gathered enough strength to let at least five people escape. The mansion was covered in Tiago's barrier so that's what made it so hard. So, the people they chose were sensei, Ichi, San, Ni, Hachi, and Shi. In short, all the ladies including San."
"Wait, how about Yon?" Killua asked, stopping her from continuing.
"Yon nii-chan is an illusion accidentally made by sensei at the age of three. She can call him out using words and call him back in. They can communicate through telepathy, too, but it is only applicable to them since they are basically one."
"That's awesome." Gon mused.
"Okay, the next thing they did is create a dummy of San using Go's Nen, sensei covering it with her illusion to make it even more realistic. Shichi was a beast manipulator so he called out beasts from everywhere to cause a ruckus. Tiago can't sense too many people passing by his barrier so while the beasts were causing a havoc, Juu spread fire that added to the chaos while the others escaped, Tiago completely unaware since he was busy holding off those beasts who were very large in number. So that's how they escaped."
"Did something happen after that?" The two boys were really interested at the Quixote siblings story and that made her smile inwardly. At last, she can tell someone about her sensei's story.
"Yes, of course. As a Quixote, living peacefully wouldn't be possible unless you eliminate the root of all chaos, Tiago. They were still in the large forest surrounding Tiago's mansion when Tiago noticed the absence of five of his children namely Rei and Yon, Ichi, Ni, Shi, and Hachi. He counted Sensei and Yon nii-chan as one. He was told that San was caught up in the mess and is now unconscious in his room. So he called out his old people from the organization to look for his children outside. The group was led by Commanded Troy, a dirty old man who uses his own soldiers as his shield."
"I heard a few things about him. He's terrible." Gon commented.
"Me too." Killua added, lying on the floor once again.
"He managed to kill two. Ni and Hachi. The rest were separated from each other, and that was when sensei met Ging Freecs." Gon's ears perked up hearing his father's name.
"I don't know the details about sensei's encounter with him, though, so I guess you should wait for her to tell it to you personally." Gon's face immediately fell with Flame's addition.
"Speaking of Hisa-no, Rei, where is she?" Killua asked, making her tense up. He quickly noticed that and sat straight, waiting for her reply.
"She was taken." Flame answered in a low voice, making Gon and Killua's eyes widen.
"Then what are we doing here?! We should get her!" Gon said as he was about to stand up but Flame stopped him.
"No, stay here." He froze, looking at her with questioning eyes.
"What? Flame, Rei-san is in danger and you'll just stay here?" He asked innocently, tilting his head slightly.
"She'll be fine." Killua noticed her trembling hands, making him squint his eyes. "Hisoka and Illumi are already on the move." He blinked multiple times at what she said.
"Illumi?" He asked, earning a nod from her.
"Illumi. Your brother." Flame confirmed, trying to calm her trembling hands. Killua's eyes haven't failed to catch her trying to calm herself.
"What business does he have with her?"
"I don't know. Ask her when she comes back." She stood up, hiding her trembling hands behind her.
"But Flame, will she really come back?" Flame's body went rigid after hearing what Gon said.
"Hey, Gon, that's enough." Killua said, standing up as he looked at Flame with worry. "Are you okay?" He asked her as Gon also stood up.
"I'm fine. She'll come back." She raised her head, meeting their eyes. Her once blank eyes showed determination for a split second. "The least thing she would do right now is to leave more people behind. She doesn't like doing that. And besides, Hisoka might have reached Illumi by now. What we could do for them is to fulfill the tasks given to us."
"Ah, right, we were supposed to train with you." Gon said, smiling at her. She nodded, turning her back at them before taking a deep breath. Worrying over her sensei should not be done especially by her. Rei is strong, she experienced the most crucial things and felt painful wounds and words. A mere abduction wouldn't take her down.
"Well, then, shall we start?" Gon nodded, making take a deep breath before turning her back when Killua said something, making her halt in her movements.
"Immortality means possessing rage, eternal grief, narcissism, and needs. Too late needs aide at Olympus. I know what it means." She slowly turned her head to look at him. His eyes were sharp and questioning and it made her sigh. Why does he have to bring up what sensei said?
"What about it?" She nonchalantly asked, crossing her arms.
"If that was the case, why did you let her go?" He asked as she turned her head away, her thoughts filled with how her sensei showed how powerful she really is.
"It's because she is Rei Quixote, my one and only sensei and the eldest Quixote daughter."
