Chapter 35: The Final Battle

Both Rei and Hisoka got on their fighting stance, Rei's eyes sharp as she looked at him. He had this smirk on his face that he usually wears when he would engage in a battle. The smirk says that he was anticipating it and that he's glad to fight her but his eyes showed otherwise. She knows what emotion his eyes convey and she can understand his feelings more than he can, yet she decided to continue with no hesitation. It's for the best. Further hurdles may result to failure.

Her eyes focused on Hisoka's foot which shifted slightly and the next thing she knew, she stumbled backwards due to Hisoka's punch which she blocked with her right arm. Hisoka only smirked at her, mocking her.

"Too slow." Her eyes widened a little and she jumped back, avoiding Hisoka's punch that was aiming for her stomach. "Oh, you read my attack." Hisoka commented, tilting his head a little.

"That's what those seven months together are for." She said, raising a brow at him. He chuckled like she said something funny but his eyes remained sharp.

"It's quite unfair, isn't it? I've been showing the real me to you, and yet you were hiding behind a mask." He said, smirking at her. "And that's what makes it even more fun." His voice sounded so dangerous that it sent shivers down her spine. She maintained a poker face, unaffected by that. She knows someone even more dangerous, and she lived with him for sixteen hellish years. Tiago.

"Stop talking and just finish it." She spat, getting irritated.

"Oh? Didn't you love listening to me whenever I talked?" His teasing tone added to her irritation even more.

"That was Hisashi."

"Old habits die hard, doesn't it?" That rendered her speechless. He struck a cord, and he is aware of that really, really well. She clicked her tongue, glaring at him.

"Your nonsense talks irritates the hell out of me." She grumbled and dashed towards him, attacking him physically. All he could do was to block her attacks since she was too fast for him to dodge. He could only smirk at her, annoying her even more.

When he found a chance, he attempted a counterattack, only to be dodged by her. They both exchanged attacks, blocking, dodging, deflecting, and countering blows. That was when Hisoka noticed something with her fighting style.

His eyes squinted as his smirk widened. She was protecting something, and if he manages to hit that part...

Rei suddenly noticed how Hisoka's movements got faster and faster. It was like he was getting her attention occupied. The dangerous glint in his eyes showed no clue of his plan and the irksome smirk on his lips didn't help either. Her eyes darted to his fist that was nearing her stomach and that triggered it. She jumped back two times, ending her journey away from him with a backflip and landing with one knee on the ground.

She took The Little Vampire out from her cloak, aiming it at him. The weapon made Hisoka smirk, thinking that she is still Hisashi because of Hisashi's signature weapon that she was pointing at him. He was expecting her to pull the trigger and fire the gun at him but his mouth went agape when the little gun suddenly transformed into a missile launcher.

I gotta thank Yon for storing his Nen in this weapon. Since she was too drained to even use On for offense, Yon made sure that she'd still be able to fight back by transfering his Nen into The Little Vampire and allowing her to transform it into different weapons. Despite her being an On User, Yon made it possible for her to use his Nen. How he did that? He doesn't know. Maybe because he was made by Nen and was kept alive by On?

She fired a missile at Hisoka whose eyes widened a little. He rolled to the side, making the missile explode in an empty space. He turned his head to look at her but he was greeted by another missile, making him jump to the side once again.
