Chapter 8: Elite Soldiers
It was a cold morning, Hisashi was already awake as she sat on her house's roof, cross-legged. She had her eyes closed and she let the morning sun bask her figure. She was healing herself and using En at the same time.
She sighed. Good thing she always had her hair tied up. "It's too early. Seriously, what a nuisance." She murmured, craning her neck from left to right and cracking her knuckles.
"20 people, really?" She scoffed, widening the range of En she was using. Her house is the only house standing at the top of the hill, not to mention that it is surroundrd by woods. There are plenty of places to hide. Her En can reach up to 100 meters, and as of now she can sense 20 people within 50 meter radius. They are all Nen Users, not to mention that they are Elite Soldiers, so she knows it's not gonna be easy.
"What's with all of you trying to take me down simultaneously? Come on, give me a break." She opened her eyes, scanning her surroundings. "You caught me." With a grin on her lips, she stood up. She is now completely healed, thanks to her Nen.
"Yon, come forth." She called out. A person started to materialize behind her. She can sense his bloodlust overflowing.
"You called me out, after how many years." He said, making her turn around and smile. Yon was wearing a long, black cloak. The hood was covering half of his face.
"That's because we both need to warm up. It's almost time." She answered, turning around once again. Yon went silent for a few seconds.
"I see you have changed."
"Of course! Change is inevitable, Yon. No matter how much you restrain yourself from changing.. you.. will not... I mean, you can't." Hisashi said, struggling to finish her words. Her eyebrows met, annoyed by that matter. "Whatever. When I say change is inevitable, it is inevitable. I don't have any words of wisdom with me, all I know is that change can't be stopped, whatsoever."
"I see you still can't say inspirational words. I guess that side of you haven't changed throughout all these years." Despite his monotone voice, she knew he was teasing her. She has known him ever since she was three, so she already knew what emotion he conveys.. if he really has those.
"There is a person inside. His aura is... terrible. Who is he?" She gasped when Yon said that. Right. She completely forgot about him!
"Oh, well, don't mind him. We have 20 Elite Soldiers around. We should take them down."
"Understood." She grinned, stretching her limbs. It's been so long since she's had real action, so the situation right now really excites her.
"Just don't use too much Nen. I've been healing myself since yesterday so I'm drained." She put her hand above her hip, scanning her eyes on her surroundings.
"Nye." Yon said, disappearing in thin air.
"What do you mean Nye?! Oi, Yon!" She shook her head, eyebrows furrowing in annoyance. "Damn it, I guess being annoyed everyday will continue until the end of my lifetime."
She, then, followed. She ran and jumped from the roof, running to the west as she landed. Yon was on the East and he's already engaging in battle.
When she entered the woods, her eyes were focused on a big log. A soldier is crouching down behind it. As she went closer and closer, she prepared her right foot, and when she was close enough, she kicked the log upwards, the female soldier's eyes widening.
"Oh, hey there!" She greeted, giggling. She crouched down in front of her as she flinched with the sound of the log hitting the ground, followed by a groan. Hisashi looked at the log behind the female soldier, only to see a wincing male soldier underneath it.
"Oh, sorry! I didn't know you were there!" She exclaimed, smirking. A punch made its way to her face and she dodged it with ease. She stood up, taking a few steps back while smiling.
"Can't you chill?" She asked, raising her left eyebrow as she dodged another punch from the female soldier who was screaming.
"Damn you! You hurt him!" The female soldier shouted in extreme rage, displaying her Ren. She was talking about the other soldier bleeding underneath the log that Hisashi kicked. Her Ren is impressive. She thought.
"Isn't that why you're here? To get hurt?" She mockingly asked the female soldier who started attacking her hastily.
"You'll pay for this! You'll pay for this!" The soldier chanted as Hisashi avoided every attack she did.
"Extreme rage. How nostalgic." She grinned as she moved slightly to the right to avoid a punch. She, then, held her arm, and pulled her, jumping into the air and using her knee to kick her nape. The soldier dropped down to the ground, unconscious. She landed silently, dusting off her black shorts before looking back at the man underneath the log who was calling the female soldier's name.
"Oh! Lovers!" She giggled, clasping her hands and walking towards the man. "How wonderful!" She crouched down in front of him as he attempted to reach her and strangle her to death. He was angry, he was shouting, he was wiggling and struggling to be free from the log, he was crying. She took a deep breath, smiling at him.
"Stop struggling, can't you see that she's alive?" She asked but he still kept on wriggling. She sighed, rolling her eyes. "Love can really make you blind." She muttered, nodding at herself.
"It's 'Love is blind,' miss." The man corrected her as he struggled. She blinked multiple times.
"Is that it?" She asked, confused. "Oh, my bad, then." Snickering, she stood up and stepped on the log. She lost her smile, her eyes stared at him with a murderous glare and she started to get serious.
"Who sent you?" She asked him. He didn't answer and just focused on trying to break free. He activated his Nen, just the same time as she felt something coming from behind her.
She jumped forward to avoid whatever it is that came her way and she heard the sound of the log crushed. She landed on a branch, and as she looked back, she saw the female soldier's raging eyes as she looked at her. She was holding a huge hammer using both of her hands while the male soldier stood up.
"Yeah, right, she's an elite soldier. She wouldn't be defeated with a single kick." She said to herself, jumping to another branch when the female soldier did another swing of her giant-like hammer. The male soldier took out a whip from his Nen. Its length reached up to seven meters according to her estimation.
Oh, so they planned that acting of shouting and crying and struggling. Nice.
"Miss, we ask you only one thing!" The male soldier shouted, making her cock her eyebrows. "Come with us, and we leave in peace!" His whip crackled with electricity, making Hisashi grimace. She doesn't want to get electrocuted by that thing. She experienced it once, and she doesn't want to experience it again.
"Hey, Mister and Miss, I will ask you only one thing, too!" She shouted back. The two exchanged glances, silently discussing about her request. "If you wouldn't let me ask this I won't go with you!" She added, sitting on the branch and letting her feet swing back and forth.
The female soldier sighed, looking straight at her before shouting back. "Very well! What is it that you ask?!" Hisashi smirked, using an innocent facade to her question.
"You seemed like you all wanted something so.. I'm going to ask.. who sent you?"
The two soldiers gripped their weapons tightly while staring at Hisashi who was sitting on a branch and swinging her feet back and forth, staring innocently at them.
What might happen next?
