Minji's pov.
I stared at myself in the mirror in my room. I looked different, my black hair styled properly for the first time in at least a week, my nails coated in a smooth lilac polish. The dress fit me just as good as the day previous, and white heels were upon my feet. I sighed as I heard a knock on the door. "Come in," I said, and the door opened slowly to reveal Namjoon, who was holding a blue linen box. He smiled when he saw me, closing the door gently behind him before walking over to me.
"You look good," Namjoon stated, and I smiled. "You don't look so bad yourself. And you've dyed your hair. It looks good too," I stated, admiring the white suit that adorned his body and the new blonde color of his hair. He laughed. "Thank you," he replied. "What's that?" I asked, looking at the box in his hand. "Oh, I forgot to mention something yesterday. This is for you," He smiled, handing the box to me. I opened it cautiously.
I stared at the purple and white masquerade mask that sat in the box. "We're having a masquerade?" I asked, and Namjoon nodded. "We figured it would be best." I took the mask out of the box, running my hand over the material. "It's pretty," I stated. "Would you like me to help you put it on?" I just nodded, handing him the mask and turning to face the mirror, moving my hair out of the way so Namjoon could tie the satin ribbons at the back of my head. He put the mask on me, standing behind me to tie the bow, but keeping eye contact with me in the mirror. My eyes traveled down his body, admiring his suit. It looked really good on him, the red tie matching his red-bottomed black loafers. His hair was swept to the side, the blonde color of it matching the whole outfit. "Checking me out, Seok?" He teased, and I laughed. "In your dreams, Kim."
We made our way to the stairs after Namjoon put his own mask on, which was colored in shades of black and red. "Wait here," Namjoon ordered as he ran down the stairs. "Wh- Namjoon, If I fall-" I yelled after him, but he just laughed at me. He returned with the boys after a few moments. "What was so important that - o-oh," I heard Jimin say as he came into view. The boys stood at the bottom of the stairs, looking up at me. "Hey," I laughed, and Jimin smiled at me. "Shit Minji," Hobi said. "You all look ravishing, If I do say so myself," I said, looking at each boy. They were all matching each other, except Namjoon. He was the only one in white. The others were wearing black suits with red ties and white and red masks, and their eyes shone from beneath them with power and authority. I made my way down the stairs, almost falling multiple times. "Hey now, don't be all soppy," I laughed as the boys stayed silent. Yoongi was the first to speak. "Right, yeah," He stated. "Let's go. The guests are anticipating my - our - arrival," Jin added. My eyes widened. "They're here already?" I asked, and Namjoon laughed. "Ready and waiting."
The ballroom was a room I hadn't explored before, because I assumed it would be the same as the others i'd been in, but as the bodyguards opened the massive wooden doors to the area, I was surprised. Even with the many people inside, the ballroom was definitely bigger than any other I had set foot in, and the big chandelier illuminated everyone's faces with a warm glow. The talking and excited buzz seemed to stop completely as the doors opened, everybody showing respect towards the hosts. We made our way into the room one by one, the boys being quietly greeted as they made their way to the center of the room. It was only when Namjoon called to me I realized I had been stalling. I walked into the room, the sound of my heels on the polished wooden floor and the quiet whispers of people around me causing me to become anxious. These were the first outsiders I had seen since my abduction. I had to try and get out of here, for my family's sake. I just didn't know how I would be able to.
I met the boys in the center of the room. Namjoon cleared his throat, and whatever whispering that had commenced at my arrival completely stopped. He smiled. "Welcome, everybody. I won't keep you eager bodies waiting, so I'll keep it short. I will be watching over everybody, so don't try a thing. Have fun, eat, drink, and let's not have a repeat of what happened last time," He announced. That earned a few laughs. I turned to Jungkook. "What happened last time?" I asked, and he chortled softly. "Explosion," he whispered. I raised my eyebrows but didn't ask further questions. I wasn't sure if I'd want to know the answers. "Mingle, dance, and don't flirt with Mini," Jungkook added, which earned a glare. "Mini?" I questioned. "Your Nickname," He replied, not looking at me. "No, I know, but why?" I asked, but he didn't reply. "Enjoy yourselves, and let the masquerade commence."
As people went back to talking with each other and the music started, Namjoon brought us into a group. "Jungkook, what the fuck was that? I told you not to bring unnecessary attention to her!" He scolded in a hushed voice. "Oh, because having her here isn't unnecessary attention in the first place," He replied angrily. "Do you want them all to know?" Namjoon spat. "Know what?" I asked quietly. The boys turned to me as if they didn't realize I was standing there. "Nothing. Jungkook, careful now. Here come the guys, be good," Yoongi saved, motioning to five boys who were walking towards us. I looked up at them, and sighed. Great. More secrets.
I didn't even want to know anyway.
"Hello," The tallest boy said as they reached us. The boys said their greetings to each other while I examined the faces of the five newcomers. I didn't know them, and they all looked quite young. They spoke in small talk for a few moments before their gazes slowly turned to me. "So, this is her," The red haired one stated. I sighed. "Her has a name," I said, and he stepped back sarcastically. "Sorry sweetheart, didn't mean to ruin your vibe," He continued. "Hey, hey, Taehyun, stop," The tallest said again, and the redhead rolled his eyes. I saw Jungkook give the Taehyun boy a death glare out of the corner of my eye. I sighed. This was already going badly, and It was my fault, of course. "Hey, I'm - Mini," I said as calmly as I could, and the boys came over to where I was. "You don't have to pretend, Minji, we know who you are. Isn't this the whole point?" I nodded. "I guess so," I replied. "I'm Soobin," The tallest said, smiling at me. He had dimples. Like Namjoon. "I'm Taehyun," The red haired boy said. "I figured," I replied. He narrowed his eyes at me, and I did the same, before a boy with vibrant yellow hair pushed Taehyun out of the way. "Yeonjun," He said, bowing in front of me. I laughed a little at his action. "I'm Huening Kai," The next boy said, and I nodded. "I'm Beomgyu, nice to meet you," The last boy said shyly. I looked at him and immediately smiled, but forced myself to stop. He just looked so... small. I reluctantly curtseyed to the boys. "I think it's no secret that I wish this alliance had never happened so I could get out of here, but I mean, you do you," I said to the boys, earning a laugh from Soobin. "Sorry to burst your bubble, but you gotta do what you gotta do in this industry," He stated, and I nodded. "Believe me, I know," I replied. He smiled at me. I smiled back. "Well I'll leave you twelve to it. I'm gonna get a drink," I stated, and Namjoon spoke to Soobin before nodding. "Yeonjun, go with her. I'll tell you about everything later, keep a close tab on her, okay?" Soobin said. I sighed as Yeonjun nodded, following me through the crowd.
"I'll have a glass of champagne, for the lady," Yeonjun said to the bartender, and the bartender nodded with a somewhat sly smile, getting the drink ready. I furrowed my brows at the bartender's look and turned my gaze back to Yeonjun, rolling my eyes at him. "I can order for myself," I sighed, and he laughed, getting the drink and coming over to me. "I really don't want to make you feel uncomfortable," He said, taking a seat on a bar stool beside me. I smiled. "Thanks, I guess," I said. He handed me the drink. The bubbly liquid hit me hard, the taste tickling my throat. I coughed slightly as I swallowed. Yeonjun laughed at me. "Bad drinker?" He asked, and I scoffed. "Been a while," I retorted, but I was smiling too. "Hey, I need to go to the bathroom, you aren't gonna follow me there too, are you?" I asked him, and he laughed. "I was told to keep a close eye on you at all times," He said, and I handed him my drink. "That's just perverted," I said. "I'll come with you and I'll wait outside," He stated, and I just sighed. "Fine, whatever," I replied, and he followed me out of the ballroom to the bathroom. I locked the door as he waited on the other side. After I struggled going to the bathroom because of my dress, I washed my hands and looked at myself in the mirror. I was feeling a bit light headed, and I assumed it was from the heat. I opened the door and Yeonjun looked at me before frowning slightly. "You okay? You look pale," He said, and I nodded, leaning against the door frame. "Gimme the drink," I said to him, and he handed it to me. I took another sip in an attempt to feel better, but the bubbles just made me want to throw up. I tried to focus my eyes, but everything began to spin. I felt myself fall backwards, and the last thing I heard before I blacked out was Yeonjun's frantic voice saying, "Are you okay? Minji?!"
