INNA

I leave the building and approach Namjoon who waves at me excitedly. When I arrive at his side, he pulls me into a warm embrace, then gives me a small peck on the lips.

"Ready to go?" he asks, smiling brightly. I can never get bored of this beautiful smile. It's like the smile of an angel, so kind and perfect.

"Mhmm." I say, ready to claim my seat in the car.

As if he watched from somewhere in the shadows, Jonathan appears out of nowhere, walking with cocky determination and carrying something in his hand. I pale when I see him.

"Inna, you forgot this." He hands me a file that I don't know what it is. I'm pretty sure I put everything back in my work bag when I left his office. Why in hell is he here? Dread floods my eyes and I can sense a trail of cold sweat climbing down my spine. I didn't plan for this. I didn't want Namjoon to ever meet Jonathan. In my mind, I would've solved his stupid case and then cut any strings with this man, without telling Namjoon about any of these things. I guess I was a fool to even believe that I can get away with it so easily. Namjoon looks at the man who just joined us, measuring him from head to toe. I'm pretty sure it doesn't sit well with him to know that I spend so much time with such a young and good looking guy, even if it's just for work. Except it isn't just work. I've been knowing that since the beginning. All this deal between me and Jonathan was never for work; as I said back then, there are plenty of good lawyers who would've helped him with the case. This was my ex boyfriend's strategy to keep me close to him, the only way I would've accepted. I look at him with cold eyes, wondering what the hell is he planning this time.

"Thanks. I didn't realize I forgot such an important file." I'm trying hard to keep it professional, as if he was indeed just one of my clients and not someone who came to destroy my life. Again. Jonathan looks at me with amusement dancing in his eyes, knowing too well what I am trying to do. Namjoon observes the exchange of looks between us and clears his throat, waiting for me to introduce him to the new male. But his grip on my waist tightens, his body tense against mine. I have a bad feeling about this.

Taking a deep breath I say "Namjoon, this is Mr. Jonathan Scott, my client." As far as I remember, I never mentioned Namjoon Jonathan's last name, which I find a blessing in a situation like this.

"Her client and her first love," Jonathan drops the bomb, the tone of his voice mischievous. My heart sinks in my chest as soon as the words leave his mouth and Namjoon beside me has gone completely still. Here they are: my boyfriend and my ex, face to face in what seems to be the display of a cruel comedy play plotted by the universe itself. In this moment I feel like I am nothing but a mockery of the gods, a way to entertain themselves. Jonathan outstretches a hand towards Namjoon in a greeting attempt, but the look on his face is vile. Joon just looks at the other man with a stern face, ignoring his hand. He then turns to look at me, his eyes feral with cold rage. I'm not sure I'm even breathing now.

"Is he the Jonathan?" he simply asks. Closing my eyes tightly for a few seconds, I reply just a simple "Yes." Jonathan just watches the whole thing with his lips curved in a wicked smirk. He enjoys the misery he put me in.

"The Jonathan? Looks like I have quite a reputation," he says winking at me. To his credit, Namjoon looks unfazed by his remark.

"Don't flatter yourself," my boyfriend mutters. Something cold and wet hits my cheek and it takes me a few seconds to realize what is happening. Raindrops. It's starting to rain. A small mercy. A reason to end this tense encounter and take a leave.
