INNAI get off the car and go to meet Morrison. "Aww, don't tell me you waited for me to get inside. It melts my heart, Morrison. Really" I mock her as I arrive at her side where she was resting on the police car, her legs crossed.
"I can't get inside" she mumbles and I frown. "What do you mean?" I ask, only then noticing that she is alone, no other policeman in sight. She's wearing a pair of black jeans and a silky white shirt, her badge showing at her belt as usual.
"The warrant is not ready. I don't know what that lazy ass judge is doing, but I can't get inside without a warrant" she explains, clearly bothered. That's right, although it's a public space, the police can only barge in the club without a warrant if they have strong evidence that a crime is happening or that the fugitive is in that place. We don't have either. We rely on a hunch and some connections I made in my head."How long until it's ready?" I ask checking the watch on my wrist. "At least half an hour. Maybe more" This is not okay. If he is indeed inside the club, he may decide to leave at any moment or the people around may notice the police car and alert the ones inside. "There's no time to wait. I'm going in" I say twisting to head to my car for the purse, only to find Namjoon and Jungkook behind me.
"I thought I told you to wait in the car" I nag at them both, but Namjoon is the only one paying attention. Jungkook is looking somewhere over my shoulder, with parted lips and wide eyes. To Morrison, I realize. Well god damn! Someone finally caught Jungkook's eye.
"I don't think it's a good idea to get in there alone," Namjoon whispers, worry in his voice. "It's just a nightclub, Joonie. I'll get my client and be right back" I assure him, even though I hate the idea of entering that place alone, knowing it's a world of debauchery in there. "Let me come with you. Or at least, wait until you can enter with the police." he insists.
"It's alright. She can do it" Morrison says from my right.
"Oh, that's right. This is agent Reea Morrison" I introduce her to the boys. Namjoon quickly grabs her hand and shakes it saying "Pleased to finally meet you, agent." He winks at me letting me know that he remembers who she is. I've talked to him about her before. Jungkook is still in a trance, however. Interesting. "And this is J-" I start, but she says "Jeon Jungkook. I know." Of course she knows. She has their whole discography on her phone. Namjoon looks at me with questioning eyes, but his lips are slowly curved into a smile.
"She's a fan. A very passionate one" I casually say which makes me gain a death glare from Morrison. "What? You're the one with their songs as ringtone" I shrug and she elbows me in the ribs to shut up. "Ouch, you brute!"
"So, you guys are friends?" Jungkook finally pulls out of his own thoughts, a glitter of hope in his eyes. "As if!" I reply at the same time Reea says "Of course not" which only makes the boys burst out in laughter. I start walking towards the car and grab my purse where I have the attorney ID then announce, "Okay. I'm going in" and as I brush past Morrison, I whisper "Keep them inside the car. There are too many curious eyes in this neighbourhood" and she nods.
As a fan herself and a woman of the law, Reea already knows that their presence here might put them at risk. I wish I could've persuaded them to let me come alone but there was no way left for arguing with Namjoon. He wouldn't let me out his sight. It doesn't take any effort to enter the nightclub. As soon as I showed the security my lawyer identification card and told him that I'm here to meet one of my clients, he immediately let me in, to the discontent of the people waiting in line to enter. I wasn't sure I would be able to succeed so I was bluffing, but I guess a lot of important deals are being made behind closed door in places like this so the security men are used to it.
The music is loud, blasting through the huge speakers spreaded throughout the club. So many people here tonight, despite being a work day and not a weekend. Girls like the ones I spotted with Mirae a while ago, with short tight dresses and high heels, are moving their bodies to the rhythm of music, letting males touch their hips and waists in the process. Sweaty bodies are brushing on me as I make my way through the crowd to the other side of the club where I spotted a door.
I am about three meters away from my destination when a man grabs my arm and forces me towards him, his body dangerously close to mine.
"Hello, beautiful," he says trying to dance with me. I look at him with a plain expression and say "I'm not interested." But the moment I try to move again, he grabs me hard and pulls me to his chest.
"Oh, come on now. Why are you in such a rush? Dance with me." he says bending his head to my face until our nose are almost brushing, while his grip on me tightens. Oh, I don't think so, buddy. I slam my knee into his crotch as hard as I can, making him almost fall to the ground in pain, then bend down and speak to his ear "I told you I'm not interested. Don't touch me again without my permission or I'll make you regret it, boy." There must be something in my gaze that says trouble because he gives me one last glance before losing his trace into the crowd, still gripping his hurt crotch.
