76. Teamwork makes the dream work

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Mirae asks me for the hundredth time today, as she is checking if everything is in order. My manager is here as well, making sure nothing bad or unpredictable happens. He went inside first and he is waiting for me.

"I'll do anything for her," I say, locking my eyes with hers. We decided to take the matter in our own hands and get a confession and hopefully some evidence from the journalist that Jonathan hired to release the fake article. We come with the idea of finding a witness that can vouch for Inna in court and in front of the Bar committee and Mirae suggested the corrupt journalist who caused all this trouble in the first place. People like him are smart. He wouldn't have an influential or powerful man asking him to do their dirty work without taking precautions. These types of men always turn their backs on you if they see fit. If we'll be able to persuade him, it remains to be seen. But I can't give up without even trying. I owe Inna this. I owe her so much more.

"Atta boy!" She taps my shoulder proudly. "You're good to go. Act naturally and make him spill everything without being too obvious. Put that 148 IQ at use," she winks and I can't help but chuckle. I'm nervous and I put my hands in the pockets of my coat to hide the slight shaking.

"Wait, what do I do?" Jin asks, turning to face us. He offered to drive me here, after Jungkook and Jimin broke the news to everyone last night. They overheard the whole conversation I had with Mirae the other day and nosy as he is, Jimin couldn't keep things a secret. But probably one of the reasons why he did it has something to do with his friendship with Inna. Besides Yoongi, Jimin was her biggest supporter after this breakup. I guess he wanted everyone to know her reasons, to make sure the others don't get the wrong idea about her. He never doubted her for a second and sometimes this makes me miserable because I did. I did doubt her, even if it was for just a little time. I shouldn't have. That's why I am now set to do everything in my power to help her get out of this situation. Silently, calmly, just like she would've liked me to.

"You wait in the car," Mirae says to him, not giving him a second look to Jin's frustration. She always makes him angry by ignoring him. It's really funny to watch at times. "Namjoon, I'll walk in with you, but the discussion will be private. He won't do it otherwise. Once you walk in that office, you're on your own." She adds in a more serious tone.

"I understand. Thank you for doing this for Inna. I'm so happy and relieved to know she has such a good friend and that she hasn't been completely alone all this time I was out of the country." She gives me a small, but sad smile, the kind that indicates that it hasn't been easy for either of them, but that they have each other's backs.

When she told me about her idea, I didn't hesitate to agree. I'd do anything for Inna, even go in the depths of Hell itself to dig her out if I have to. I would've gone after Jonathan right in that moment, after I found out about his involvement. But I had to be smart. I had to do it the right way.

Mirae confirmed to me that Inna managed to collect enough evidence to put that guy in jail and that they are waiting for the police to get everything set for the arrest. A few days, they said. That's how much longer it will take before is concluded. I was going crazy, I wanted to go to Inna and hold her in my arms, kiss her and tell her how much I love her. That she is not alone and I will always be here, no matter what. But that had to wait too. We agreed to postpone my reunion with Inna when Reea and the police were ready to make the arrest. Inna doesn't know I found out about her little plan. I couldn't afford to shake her world now when she is so close to getting rid of that asshole. So I'm waiting patiently, thinking of all the ways I'm going to hold her and apologize to her for leaving her behind.
