INNA
What kind of cosmic joke is this? It might be one of my nightmares because no way in hell is Jonathan, the man who broke my heart and destroyed every chance at love I had, sitting in front of me right now. I blink. Once. Twice. As if blinking will make him go away, like a hallucination. But he is still here, the strong lines of his face almost cruel. How is this possible? What is he doing here? No, no. This can't be happening to me. Not now. I inhale, then exhale, but I feel like I can't breathe.
"Long time no see, huh? You've gotten fiercer. Looks like you have bigger balls than most men. I must admit, your attempt to incapacitate my men is quite brave...and sexy," he says with his mouth set in a wicked grin. I force myself to look at the four men now blocking the door and see how the one I attacked with my stiletto is still dripping blood, panting hard. Another one has a broken nose. Despite the crappy situation I'm in, I mentally tap my shoulder for the damage I managed to cause.
"Your men?" I narrow my eyes in confusion, my heart beating so hard that's about to escape my chest, but I'm struggling to keep my composure. "What's the meaning of this?" I demand, crossing my arms over my chest.
"For a lawyer with your reputation, you're pretty dense." he mocks me, no trace of warmth in the smile he's showing me. "Give us some privacy," Jonathan says to one of the men, the leader, as he runs a tattooed hand over his perfectly styled hair. "And help Woon-Gwang find a first aid kit." he continues, already turning his back to them, fully facing me now. So that's the name of the pervert. I store this information in the back of my head for later.
"But sir, she-" the leader says, looking at me with untrustful eyes.
"Leave us!" he orders not taking his eyes off of me, his voice cold and empty. The way he commands them...they must be his personal guard or something. Thinking of how we got here, how no one even threw a single glance at us despite me being pushed and forced to walk in...
"You're the owner of this damn club," I state, finally connecting the dots.
"Bingo! Although it's a bit troublesome at the moment," Jonathan replies, putting his hands in his pocket and leaning on the desk. As soon as the gorillas disappeared, he started speaking english instead of korean.
"Ah, yes. I heard the police it's on your tail. Not gonna lie and say I'm sad about it." I say nonchalantly, following him with my gaze.
"Not for long. The club will be fine, I'll escape the accusations and you, my dear Inna, are going to help me." I decide it's time to put my missing shoe back in my foot since I'll be needing a lot of support to handle all the news I have learned until now.
"Help you? Mind telling me what exactly is that supposed to mean?" All my years of experience in the courtroom are the only thing helping me stay calm and collected because on the inside I feel like I'm suffocating, dying.
Jonathan is here. After so much time, after all the pain he has caused me, he is here, tormenting me again. He already ripped me off of everything I had and was. What else does he want to steal from me this time? Jonathan has always been a beautiful man: tall, handsome, great body, eyes to die for. But the green in his eyes is cold, ruthless, just like his soul. Despite his appealing appearance, he has always been a player, a man who loves the chase, yet selfish, possessive, territorial. When I first met him, I was nothing but a lost girl, trying to fit in a society that for some reason kept rejecting me. My previous boyfriend had cheated on me, saying I'm a nerd and that I'm no fun. The friends I used to have in college excluded me from their lives as well. As a new lawyer with no friends and a dysfunctional personal life, I felt so lonely and misunderstood. When he saw me at the pub he owned one night, drinking by myself, he stopped at my table and started a conversation. We talked for hours. For a bad boy like him, he was very smart and surprisingly kind. I told him about my past and he didn't seem to mind. No one has showed me kindness before so I foolishly fell for him. He was my first love. Until the other hidden side of him started to reveal itself. Looking to expand his business, he started to lose nights and go back to his party lifestyle. He wanted me, but he wanted other women as well. Buried in work, I didn't know about his whereabouts until later on. Jonathan, like the piece of shit that he is, cheated on me. Not once, but several times and he had the audacity to come back to me every morning and crawl in my bed like nothing had happened. Although he knew my troublesome past and the pain that others inflicted on my soul, he did it too.
