"Ezekiel!" Jack beamed as he sauntered into the little merchant shop hidden by an array of interlocked buildings at the crest of the hill.
"Captain Jack Sparrow," the man stood by a small cabinet said as he turned, straightening his stance as he looked back at Jack. "I hear congratulations are in order my friend."

Jack's lip twitched slightly, as well as his brow in obvious confusion, until he quickly realised the news of his recent nuptials had already travelled. "Kamora," Jack cursed in realisation that she had been the one to snitch on his recent nuptials.

"Yes! Wonderful news my friend, although hardly expected," the man, Ezekiel, said walking towards Jack with a grin on his face, his one gold tooth at the front of him mouth glinting. Jack didn't reply but merely offered a somewhat sarcastic smile in return before focusing his eyes on the treasures below him at the counter.

"So how can I be of service?" Ezekiel said, moving to stand behind a little wooden counter, unlocking the case and opening it up for Jack, "perhaps a gift for your new wife?"

Jack let out a little 'mmm' as he leaned down to look at the jewels in front of him, looking at the delicate little jewels that lined the display case. He fiddled with a couple of rings, picking them up, looking at them before placing them back down out of order. He wasn't stupid enough to try and pocket any under Zeke's nose, again.

"I have something very special for your new bride," Ezekiel said with a point and a wag of his finger as Jack looked up at the man who seemed to be blooming with sheer excitement.
"You reclaimed the Black Pearl, yes?" The man asked, seemingly already knowing the answer.
Jack's brow lifted as he straightened again, his knowing smirk blooming. He opened his mouth to reply but it fell closed when the other man swiftly turned away from him and reached down to unlock a small drawer below the counter.

When the man pulled out a small tray holding a selection of fine jewels, Jack's eyes widened as he saw the perfect gift for his Lily.

"A black pearl," Ezekiel commentated as he lifted the small ring, holding it out for Jack to observe. Jack reached to grab the ring from the man as he rolled it over in his hand. The ring was perfect, a single black pearl held by a decorative band of silver that looked like the pattern of coral that wrapped the entire way around the dainty ring.
"Aye, it's perfect."

My stomach churned as I rowed out to the Pearl, my nerves crashing over me in waves at the anticipation of what I was facing. I knew I should have waited for Jack, or at least gathered someone to accompany me for backup and time was running out.
Jack was nowhere to be found and I had a terrible feeling about this. Time was of the essence I knew, and so there was nothing I could do except go alone.

I 'borrowed' a small dingy from the side of the dock and quickly rowed out to the Pearl, trying to keep to the shadows as to not give away my position. Part of me hoped that it was just my imagination and that nothing was actually aboard the pearl, but my gut feeling disagreed.
As I rowed my way out, the underskirts of my dress became too cumbersome in my movement and so I swiftly removed them, throwing them behind me into the back of the boat.

Placing the oars down into the boat, I glanced back at the shore and squinted, trying to see through the darkness that had fallen quickly as the sun had set. I hoped that Jack would be there looking for me, but the dock was empty. I sighed and looked up at the stern, realising that I would have to scale the side of the ship. Thank the Lord I had already shed the cumbersome underskirts.

I took a few breaths to calm myself and delicately stood in the boat, reaching out to grab hold of the rudder rail. I pulled myself up and silently cursed myself for wearing a dress, having learnt that trousers where much easier for this, even without the frilly underskirt. When I looked behind me, I couldn't see the underskirt anymore and realised it must have slipped into the water without me knowing as I rowed.
With much difficulty I climbed up the stern using the rudder as leverage and after a few breathless minutes, I managed to climb to the top rail.

I peeked over the rail briefly and saw no movement on board, no sight of anyone or anything. I climbed over the rail, realising the coast was clear, and stepped onto deck quietly. I peeked around and couldn't see anything, so I decided to take a walk towards the stairs that led below deck and stood for a moment before walking down the stairs. The boat was almost eerily quiet as I crept down the steps to the lower holds.

I'd made it past the crew's hold when I suddenly heard a commotion of deep voices coming from the lower holds. I held in my gasp and backed into the reel hold as I listened to the voices, trying to recognise any of them. My heart pounded as I hid behind the reel spindle, quickly realising that I didn't recognise any of the voices echoing from below, the voices seeming to travel closer as footsteps could be heard.

A few men walked past the hold I was hiding in as they climbed the stairs and I had to hold my breath to make sure I wasn't heard. When they had all seemed to pass, I peeked out from the hold and quickly stepped down the stairs towards the lower holds and the capstan.

I leaned against the capstan for a moment, hidden by the large wooden centrepiece and caught my breath, desperately trying to think of a plan.
If I let off one of the cannons, it would alert Jack and some of the other crew to the takeover, but it would also give away my location and put me in the ring of fire.

"Oi!" I heard a man's voice call out threateningly, causing me to spin quickly on the spot to face the man. Just as I turned my head, I was met with something large and incredibly heavy, causing me to fall to the floor in a heap.
That was the last thing I remembered as darkness washed over me.

"Love?" Jack's voice echoed around the seemingly empty room at the inn as he returned with the gift for his Lily.
"Lily?" He shouted again, growing more concerned with each second that passed. He rushed around the room, checking that her belongings hadn't gone. They hadn't.
Her wedding dress lay across the chair in the corner of the room, exactly where Jack had ripped it from her body the night before. She didn't have many other items with her, choosing to keep most of her other clothes on the ship in the chest in their cabin.

"Lily!" He shouted again, more irate and panicked as he pulled apart the sheets and the closet. When she didn't reply again, he ran out the room, tucking the parcel into his jacket pocket and ran out the room, out of the inn and down the street.

He ran back to the docks, following the path she'd have taken since he left her there, trying desperately to spot her fiery red hair in the sea of people.

"Lily!" He shouted into the open street, squinting through the darkness as he attempted to find her. He paused to catch his breath and turned to face the faithful bride, hoping that she had slipped in there for a drink before going back to the inn.

He burst through the door, shouting her name again and was met with odd looks from the patrons and the barmaid that looked at him with wide, confused eyes. He scanned the faces of the people everywhere and couldn't see her.

He ran out and ran all the way back to the dock, realising it was his last hope of finding her. When he reached the dock, he quickly noticed that she wasn't there. He then realised that something else was missing: the Pearl.

He squinted, looking out through the darkness trying to spot the ship in the distance but couldn't. He cursed the ship for being black in appearance with black sails; usually it worked to his advantage, but right now it was useless.
He peered out into the water, still squinting, as he looked for any signs of his ship or his wife.

He caught sight of something floating in the water and couldn't stop his feet as he began running towards the lump in the water, water splashing wildly around his boots with the force of his run.
"L-l!" He began to shout but the words caught in his throat as he ran out into the water, his trousers quickly soaking through as he waded through the shallows towards the mass in the water.

He dived down and reached for the mass, lifting it out of the water before carrying it onto the sandbank near the dock. As he examined the all too familiar fabric his body froze in shock, his face turned white and his stomach dropped as he fell to his knees on the floor, finally realising what he was looking at.

Lily's underskirts.
She was gone.
