Chapter Eighteen-Surprises

Falling. Peter was falling. Endless falling. Did I do it? Eventually a red color comes to his vision as he falls. Then he opens his eyes.

"Kiddo," Tony says, voice cracking as he speaks. Eyes red and puffy he looks down at the broken shape of his kid.
Peter struggles for breath realizing his "failure".
"N-no why?" He asks himself getting as small as he could on the bed as far away from Tony. He looks at his arms with tear eyes and traces the many stitches. He turns towards Tony.
"W-why?" Hearing Peter's words Tony starts crying and pulls Peter close to him.
Peter turns his head away feeling guilty and sees all through out the room, people laying on each other or in sleeping bags. He turns his head as far as he can and sees to the right of him Pepper is sitting in a chair and on a chair next to that Wanda is laying with her legs extended to the next chair over Pepper. Then all of a sudden he gets overwhelmed by emotions and starts to cry. Tony puts his hand on Peter's face face and looks his in the eyes.
"Kid...why didn't you tell me? I would have loved to help...and you know damn right I'm going to do do know."
"I-I'm not worth it" peter says quietly.

"I believe you are" Vision says coming from the ceiling.
Peter yelps in surprise and looks up with a real smile that lit Tony's heart up.
"Doors man" peter says holding his smile for a second then his face going sad again. All around the room happy whispers were heard.
"Pete!" Wanda cried out climbing onto the bed hugging him tight.
"H-hey Wan" he says holding onto her. "I'm sorry".
"You know you can talk to us..." she whispers in his ear loud enough for only him to hear.

Peter sits up as far as he can with out hurting himself and looks around the room again. Everyone has a smile, even Loki who was tapped to a wall for some reason. Peter looked at Loki then to Tony.
Tony smiled "oh he kept trying to take the cats away from you to play with them" he says pointing to the fat balls of fluff at the end of Peter's bed. Pater smiles then looks back at Loki. "Are you good up there dude".
"Just fine" Loki says as one of the cats jumps off the bed and runs its head on the lower of Loki's legs. Bruce comes up to Peter and places a hand on his shoulder. "Hey Pete, how are you feeling?" "A little tired and s-sore".
"That's not what I ment..." Bruce says looking Peter in the eyes.

Peter doesn't answer and Bruce looks at Tony in concern.
"Hey Underoos," Peter slightly smiles at the nickname, then tears up remembering the last time Tony said it.

"Underoos" Tony said with a quivering voice. Tears trailed down his face and he felt awful. He needed to make sure this kid would be okay. He needed to be there no matter what.

"Are you feeling well enough for a little celebration?"
"W-what do you mean?" Peter asked looking up at Tony.
"Well it's the 12th, two days past your birthday. Of course we went just going to forget about it" Tony says with a smile.

Just another year of failing everyone added to my life.

Stephen gets up and goes through a portal then comes back with a box. He walks up to Peter and opens the box and smiles. "T-thank you" he says quietly looking at the perfectly round cheesecake. Chocolate oreo. His favorite. He years up and looks around the room, then decides to speak.

"I love you all" he says. Everyone reply with something like love you too or something like that except for Loki who was distracted by the cat scratching at the tape at his legs.

"U-um" peter started to tear up again. The tears slide down his cheeks. "I'm r-really sorry I t-t-tri-t-tried..."
"Hey hey hey. Pete you dont have to say it. We know what you mean" Tony said putting his hand on the boys back. "Me and Pepper have a surprise for you and Wanda... the whole team helped with this. Wanda still on the medical bed with Peter looked up in curiosity.

"I-i dont deserve anything..." Peter says quietly.
"Bullshit" Tony says. "That's just bullshit right?" He asks looking around the room. Everyone gives a big smile. Peter even smiles a little. "S-sorry" he mumbles out. Everyone around the room stands up and comes closer to the bed. Thor untapes Loki and he follows too. Pepper grabs a folder that shes had on her since Peter first came into the med bay and walks to the other side of the bed to Tony.

"Open it together" she says holding Tony's hand while handing the folder to the two. They open it and Wanda gasps. Peter just starts to shake then cry. Wanda hugs him then whispers comforting words to him.
"T-thank you guys so much" he says hugging the adoption papers close to him while Tony And Pepper hug they're two soon to be children.
"We know you're going to be an adult in a about a year but no kid should have to deal with not having parents for 7 years" pepper says to wanda. Wanda smiles appreciatively.
"Pete, you deserve all of this" Tony says looking at his son. "In fact you deserve more. I may not be the best father figure but I'm here for you. Plus I mean Pepper is gonna be like the best mom ever" he says with a smile.
"This is, all of course if you guys want us to adopt you." Pepper says.

"That would be lovely" Wanda says excitedly.
"What about you Pete?"
"I-i would love that" he says quietly.

"ITS OFFICIAL GUYS! I HAVE A SON AND A DAUGHTER" Tony yells.
"Its not official yet" Pepper says with a laugh.
Bruce leans in to help Peter get up "c'mon where gonna go watch a movie" he says as everyone files out the door before them.
