I was expecting the day to be....well, if not perfect, at least awesome, but it turned out, anything unexpected I've had over this last year, wasn't a good one. I should probably be getting used to that

Rushing in like a wind, I stormed into her office and sat my bag on the nearest table. Her head popped up immediately as she put down her pen. I knew our appointment was not today, but I really needed to talk, so, here I was, acting like a deranged teenager.

Sinking into the leather couch, I crossed my perfectly toned legs and stared at Dr. Tonia, who was smiling. Was that a compulsory part of her job? Seriously, why was she smiling?

"I wasn't expecting you , You had work today.." she raised her brow, with a quizzical look, "your big day?", she added, spreading her palms, as though she was weighing something.

First of all , I knew I had to explain why I was here so today, when I should have been at work, but I didn't open my mouth, I was just staring out the window. She waved her hand in my face, waking me from my oneirism.

She finally sighed, I assumed she was tired of my awful silence, "Lisa, I'm here for you, whatever you came to talk about, I'm ever ready to listen", she looked at me with pleading eyes. I sighed, and nodded.

"Okay, so why don't we begin with how your day has been so far", she smiled again, picking her notepad and pen...of course.
I rolled my eyes, "you are seriously asking about my day, can't you just tell from my unannounced visit and my weary look?", Well, that came out a bit  rude.

"Uh...okay, so it was bad......right.Why are you weary, weary is quite strong a word, you know?", She clasped her fingers
"I don't know, just tired, angry, I guess, my day started great and then life just decided to give me a cup of vinegar", she chuckled

"I'm glad your day began wonderfully, tell me about it". She sank into the couch and crossed her legs. I simpered and told her about Dave, "I think he's a very cool person", I added. She just nodded and smiled, jotting something down.

"So you think you could be friends?"
" Yeah, I mean, I mean I have no friends, it'll be cool to start making some, he's hot, like so fucking hot", she just stared at me, "what.. language?", I asked, rolling my eyes.

"No Lisa, it's fine, let it out, I'm glad you like this Dave guy. That's something...now tell about the vinegar", air coating the vinegar with her index fingers. I delayed a while, "go on".

A minute of silence.

"I saw Oscar".

"Your white dude?"

"Yeah" , I nodded, no, what? "No... no, the white dude, not my white dude, anyway, he's my boss now, no was, I'm definitely not going back there..", I said, stressing on the "the" and "not" .

She was still quiet, so I went on. I told her everything that had happened with Oscar earlier, she was indeed a good listener.
"What did you feel , the second you saw him?", She twitched her lips.

"A lot of things....I mean, I'm glad he's alive, I was happy, I wanted to just jump on him, hug him, kiss him...but then again, I was angry. Just so angry", I clenched my teeth.

"Is there any better way you think you could have handled the whole situation?"
"Well, I don't know, I mean, I think so", I shrugged
"And you do you feel you could have done something else other than walking out?"
"I don't know , that's why I walked out obviously..", I rolled my eyes,"what would you have done?", I threw her question back to her.

"Well, to be fair, I'd have listened to him, after this long, I'd really want to know everything". There it was, she was not on my side anymore. "You literally told him to leave right?"

"I just meant he should leave me, I didn't expect him to just ran off like some grass cutter running from a bush set on fire", I raised my voice, and in more like a whisper, "and seriously, you should be on my side..", silence clothed us and the only audible thing was my loud erratic breath.

"Tell me , are you actually thinking of quitting the job?", She raised her brow.
"I already did, about an hour ago", I snapped. Apparently, I was mad at the wrong person.
"Lisa, if I remember correctly, you told me how much you wanted a job, and we were so happy when you got this. Honestly, this is the best Tech company I know, it has been over the years. ...Lisa , you can not keep running from your past, if you do, it's going to keep hunting you down in so many ways."

"So you're telling me to retake the job and face Oscar?"
"Exactly, hear him out, settle your differences, be bold about this, this is a lone race, but you don't have to just chicken out". She said with so much concern in her tone.
"so like you're team Oscar now?? All hail Oscar?", I gave an exasperated sigh.."come on,you can't just support a stranger"

"I'm on your side here, but I say hear him out, and then let your heart lead you. Bitterness will just weigh you down". I really wanted to hear him out, know where he'd been, she was right though.

Sometimes, I felt my therapist was a little dumb, because she just asked me if I missed Oscar. He was my first love and we had been together long enough, so yes, I missed him.

Just that I didn't want to get back with him, his chapter was closed, locked actually. I missed all the fun times, the fights , I missed everything. He actually owned one third of my heart: God, my family and friends, and then him. Yes, that's how much he meant to me, but he was ungrateful enough to take not only his part, but the whole, smash it into pieces and then toss them into the bin.

"Lisa, I'm not saying this as your therapist, but as a mother", she leaned forward, "if you're going to move past this completely, face it like a woman. Retake the job, please listen to him, forgive him, if you want, but definitely, you should. It will not mean, you'll get back with him , even though I want to say there's a possibility". She gave a me a wink and a smile.

I made a stern face after seconds of silence, " why do you always win?"
"Why are you always headstrong,hm?", She whispered.
We both laughed.
