LISA'S POV

Could nature just treat us like adults and allow our day to go as planned without the slightest interference??

In my head, my day was going to be peaceful, not misunderstandings tantrums. I hadn't even for a moment paused to think that Oscar and Dave will fight about anything or do anything like what I was thinking, I knew they would have an awkward moment, but not like that.

Oscar said everything so casually but whatever they talked about, I hope it was not what I was thinking".

I shook my head and left him. I headed outside, took in a deep breath and out, when I spotted Dave's car on the side of the road. He hadn't left after all.

Briskly, I walked towards the car. I opened the door and sat inside. The cold air and constant lavender fragrance, coupled with the sweet smell of chips(considering that he always kept chips in his car), gave me a warm welcome.

He was on his phone, looking as composed as ever. He smiled at me, making me more perplexed, but it's better to play along, I thought.

"Heyy"

"Hi", and then back to his phone

"You... You didn't tell me you were heading out", I put my purse on top of the dashboard.

He shrugged

"All good?"

Silence...

"Dave?"

He looked at me. Honestly, he was acting like a girl, in earnest need of apology.

"Is everything alright?"

"Yeah yeah yeah, all good, can we go now?"

"Oh yeahh, gimme just a minute to say Goodbye"

"To Oscar??", He chuckled, "Yeah, right!"

"I'm sorry?"

"No nothing, you go ahead"

So I hopped out of the car, perplexed to the brim. It was clear there was something wrong but he was so chill, I didn't even know what to think.
So I moseyed back into the house to where Oscar and Janice sat on the couch facing the lawn.

"You're telling me what conversation you two had, Oscar", I stayed humourless.

"Trust me, we had a very casual conversation"

"And by casual, you mean?"

He stood up to his feet, "I mean normal men stuff, Lisa, don't worry about it, why?"

I just gave him the I-know-you're-lying-but-I'll-leave-it-and-definitly-get-back-to-you- kind of look. He just shrugged, looking amused.

"Anyway we're.. uh.. we're leaving, I'll be sure to call you when I get home"

"Sure, take care"

He gave me a hug.... I bet I could just lay on his chest my entire life, and ask God to replace my oxygen with his cologne. He always smelled fruity, mild but overpowering.

Janice rose up and gave me a long hug too, "you'll be fine, dear", she whispered into my ears and I nodded on her shoulder.

"So I'll see you guys, tell Raya I left", I said and left them, heading back outside into Dave's car.

"You could have at least told me, you wanted to go, or something, I thought you had gone home", I said, once I got in

"But I hadn't, I'm right here as you can clearly see", he sounded calm, but a storm was surely brewing
