Chapter 17

I stretched my arms high. They sun shined brightly over the flower garden today, which made them look healthy. I watched the flowers as I wait for Shinazugawa-san; we decided to meet today. I haven't seen him since we were in Kocho's place after our last mission. We were demons now but nobody knew what to do with us so I thought we should just talk about it ourselves.

I heard footsteps behind me, walking towards where I was crouched down, "Ah Shinazugawa."

He didn't respond but instead sat down next to me. "hi."

I was surprised, he usually acted cold towards me, "How are you?"

He remained silent for a few seconds but spoke up, "Worse then before I guess."

"Ah.. yes me too.." I say. "I've been feeling constantly sick for the fact that I cannot eat anymore.."

"Me as well.. I feel horrible always staying inside and not being able to go on missions anymore."

"Shinazugawa.. when.. when do you think we'll return human..?"

"Unlikely. There hasn't been any cure for anything like this.."

"pshh..." I say in defeat, playing with the sand on the floor. "Well, I'm bored and I wanna fight."

I stand up grabbing my sword that laid on the floor next to me.

"(Y/N) are you crazy? Don't make your own decisions!" he scolded.

"Ughhh but I'm so boreddd.. you don't have to come with me, I'll go by myself."

He rolled his eyes but stood up, "You're helpless, honestly."

I smiled at him but before we started walked, I see another figure entering the gates.

"Ah, G-Giyuu..!" I start to sweat...

Giyuu mentioned how I should never leave my estate until further notice by Oyakata-sama..

I didn't listen to him and ended up meeting with Shinazugawa.

"(Y/N), what're you doing here?"

"Ah heh! I..um.. wanted to meet with Shinazugawa! You know how we're demons now and we uh.. needed to catch up!" 

"Pffftttt," Sanemi laughs.

"Go home (Y/N), I know you just wanted to leave your room."

Giyuu takes my hand and drags me out of the gate. "GIYUU NOOO PLEASSSEEE RIUFBQI!!"

"You're not in condition to be fighting right now. I'll let you know if Oyakata-sama says anything."

"HMPHH."

'What a waste of my time' Sanemi thinks.

I sit down on the couch while Giyuu pours a glass of water for himself and me. 

"Why are you here? Why didn't you go home?" I ask him, taking my haori off and folding it up.

"Because if I go, I know you'll sneak out." he says, sitting down next to me.

I take a sip of the water Giyuu handed me. It didn't do anything, I was still starving. My only energy source for the last few days has been sleep. 

"Giyuu, can I ask you something?"

"What is it?"

"Why don't you kill me? Aren't I a demon? Isn't it your job to kill people like me?"

He pauses, "You're a demon but you're not like any other demon, I cannot kill you, mentally."

I really let that sink in, Giyuu cares about me so he can't kill me? I'd do the same if we switched too.

Without realizing, a tear strolled down my cheek. Tears of happiness; I felt worth and purpose.

A hand touched my face, wiping the tears. "Stop crying (Y/N).."

He cups my face with both hands, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing," I say with a smile. 

I hug him which made him surprised. But he hugged me back. The most comforting hug, and sweet one. I didn't want to let go, he was warm and the fabric of his haori was soft. I closed my eyes to soon fall asleep.

I wasn't fully asleep when I feel a kiss on my lips.
