"yup just a moment!" I said while Giyuu waited outside for me.
"Alright, I'm done let's go."
---
The sun shined brightly today. We entered the festival welcomed by children and their friends laughing or running around and people eating the delicious food. I immediately ran after a cotton candy booth and started looking around.
"Hi! Can I get the..hmm.. strawberry one.." I ordered, turning around to see Giyuu catch up with me, "Ah Giyuu, do you want one? I'll pay for you."
"I'm good."
I shrugged, "whatever you say!"
We walked around visiting different places of scenery and booths of food. I had never seen Giyuu have fun and I was glad to see it today!
We sat on a bench to eat the dango Giyuu offered to purchase for us. As I took a bite, I admired the red lanterns that hung on a tree above us. With the sun still out, the dull flair of the lantern was hardly noticeable.
"They're really pretty at night." he says.
I looked back at Giyuu, "Can we stay until the fireworks? Oh I really wanna see what the festival looks like at night!"
".. I guess.."
I smiled and continued eating. A flush of blush blew over our faces from the autumn weather. Leaves fell into my lap and all over the ground around us. It was so tempting to touch his face, he looked like he had a flash of happiness for once..
I started to look at the people around us, they looked beautiful from their clothing to their expressions/emotions. After becoming a hashira, or the most difficult thing I've ever done, I've realized how much fun the world outside demons were.
A shop that sold kimonos stood only a few shops down from us. My face lit up thinking about how fun wearing them would be!
"Hey Giyuu, I think I'm gonna get a kimono, I feel really out of place in what I'm wearing.."
"Oh yeah, I'll come with you.."
We threw away our paper trays after finishing our dango.
"Welcome!" the owner called.
The variety of patterns caught my eye. I couldn't choose, they were all too pretty!
"Choose one for me, Giyuu," I smile at him.
"W-what..? I choose?"
"Yea! I'll choose a yukata for you too! That is if you wanted to wear one.."
His eyebrows raised, surprised I even wanted him to wear one, "Oh um yeah sure.."
I handed him a maroon one, similar to his, with white flowers coming up at the bottom. He seemed to like it and went towards the changing room.
I waited while I looked at the kimonos. I couldn't even guess what kind he would get me considering my bland fashion..
He walked out with the clothes hewore before in his arms. My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. He was the prettiest man I've ever seen..
I just stared at him while he walked towards me to look for a kimono.
"G-giyuu! This is so unfair, how can a man be so beautiful!" I wiped a tear.
"Ah your kidding, I really like the one you chose though," he smiled at me.
"AH-" (insert imaginary nosebleed lmao)
"Alright here," he handed me a matching navy blue kimono which also had flowers coming up at the bottom.
"AWWW!!" I swear I was gonna cry a rainfall.
I went in to change and looked in the mirror before walking out.
He watched me leave the changing room. His face was mostly emotionless but I could see something small.
"You look nice." he smiled fixing the bow in front my kimono.
Not sure if I've ever blushed harder but he was definitely doing it on purpose, "Haha.. well you chose it!"

After a few hours of walking around and visiting other shops, it started to get dark. I found a spot on a hill and laid down a thin sheet for us to sit on.
I used my folded clothes as a head lifter and laid down to wait for the fireworks. Giyuu stayed sitting, hugging his knees and watching the lanterns.
He was right, they were beautiful at night. The light reflected off his blue pearly eyes, leaving a nice contrast. He eventually laid down as well.
We stared at the stars above us in a comforting silence. The people's murmurs were relaxing, almost causing me to fall asleep.
"Giyuu, would you still be close with me even when I eat a human?"
"Yes."
"Even if I killed many innocent lives to feed my hunger?"
"Yes."
A warm feeling filled my heart. I always wondered why he chose to care about me out of anyone. I was no one special, in fact, I felt like I was the most ordinary person.
The fireworks started. I sat up to observe the blast of bright lights. I haven't been able to see fireworks in forever and forgot how much I missed them. They bring so much joy and happiness into anyone, even if they were a demon.
I looked to my right to see a happy Giyuu. Our noses were so flushed at this point. It gets extremely cold during the nightime, but I could endure it.
We laid back down after a few minutes. I closed my eyes to listen to the fireworks and awes of people around us.
I suddenly had the urge to hug something like a pillow. With my closed, I just hugged whatever was next to me. Whatever it was, it was full of warmth, curing my coldness.
I snapped back to reality when a pair of arms hugged me back. I looked up to see Giyuu's sleeping face. Except he wasn't asleep. I took the chance and kissed him.
I pulled away to see if I'd get a reaction.
3 seconds, nothing.
I feel the hug get tighter and I was brought closer to his chest. I close my eyes again, in relief.
"I love you." he whispers.
