Even during missions you would always have that memory replay in your head. The day where you and Giyuu fell asleep on the mountain. When you had lunch together. After you went home you started to think more about Sabito and Makomo.
(Flashback brought to you by Obanai's snake)
I went to grab my uniform and haori when I spotted something in the back of my closet. It was a book that looked as if it was a diary. I pulled it out and recognized it instantly. It was Sabito's diary. When we were children (when your parents were still alive), we always played together. He started to distance himself because of how busy he was at Mr. Urokodaki's. We would still keep in touch from letter to letter but it wasn't the same. Often he would write about some kid named Giyuu Tomioka. I was intrigued and thought about what he would look like. Tomioka was normally a topic starter when I would visit him, which was very rare. Soon, I stopped getting any replies from him and never saw him again. Until I started to train with Mr. Urokodaki months later, after my parents had past. I asked him about Sabito and Makomo (and occasionally Tomioka) and he told me. They were dead. I kept thinking that Tomioka was dead as well, even though I wanted to meet him so bad. Reading Sabito's diary now, I fully understand who I was developing a crush on.
----–---
It was the house maids' day off again. Meaning I would have to eat at headquarters. I didn't mind but it was uncomfortable eating with people I rarely talk to. Though that was my fault.. I arrived and saw Mitsuri running up to me.
"Ohayo, Y/N! The food today is quite good," she said pulling my arm. It was so early, how could she be so energetic all the time!
"A-actually, I'm not hungry today.." you say.
"Hmmm.. that's a lie. Y/N, I rarely see you eat breakfast at all! Is something wrong?" she asks.
"N-no! I'm just not used to eating so um, commonly.." I reply.
"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Is that why you always slack off during our missions?" you hear a voice coming up behind you
"Sanemi, that's not true! I never slack off!" you said, offended.
"Uh-huh, sure," he says.
"Hmph! Anyway, I'm really not hungry. Actually I'm-" you say, turning back to Mitsuri.
"Yeah you are! Now chew!" she says, shoving food in my mouth.
You slowly chew the food she had shoved in your mouth. It was a lot since you don't usually eat in general. Attempting to swallow, you start to choke.
"Y/N! Here!!" Shinobu stands up from her seat.
You drink the water slowly swallowing the rest of the food in your mouth. You looked up to see Mitsuri and Sanemi trying to contain their laughter. You thanked Shinobu for the water but stomped your way out to make it back to your home.
"Man, it sucks without Kani (your housemaid)!" you mumble to yourself.
Now that you think of it, you didn't see Muichiro nor Giyuu at breakfast. You wondered if they had left early to a mission or just didn't want to eat. After sitting on the couch for awhile you hear a knock on the door. You dragged yourself off the couch to open it.
"..hello..?" you slowly open it.
"Oh, Y/N were you not ready?" Muichiro asks.
"Oh it's you two.." you say. "W-what're you doing here?"
"We have a mission.." Giyuu says.
"A m-mission?! Today.?" you say. "Ah, gomen! Let's go.."
You grabbed your sword and walked out the door, locking it. A mission.. with Muichiro and Giyuu.. Interesting.. 'How come Momaka didn't say anything..' you thought.
"Eh, were you sleeping Y/N?" Muichiro asks.
"I don't think so.. I'm not sure why Momaka didn't tell me.." you replied.
You suddenly felt a hand on your head. You didn't want to look already knowing it was Giyuu fixing your messy hair.
"T-thanks.." you blush.
After awhile you soon arrived to your destination. Looking around you notice a familiar house... It was your old house. The one your parents died in..
"A-are you sure it's here..?" you stuttered.
"Mhm, it says right here on the map.." Muichiro showed you.
"This house.. what happened..?" you peeked inside to see something unexpected.
You wanted to run away, fast. But it was your parents.. they were still there. After year and years. only now has somebody took notice of it. The thought of how they were never properly burried until today made your heart hurt alittle. 'It's my fault. I should'nt have ran. I should've stayed and died with them' you thought.
"Y/N, is there something wrong? You've never seen a deceased body?" Muichiro tapped your shoulder.
"...." no response.
"Y/N?" Giyuu says.
"...." no response.
Horrible thoughts filled your head. You wanted to say 'those are my parents.' but your brain told you otherwise.
"i'm sorry.." you finally manage to speak. "It's my fault."
"W-what? It's not your fault what are you talking about?" Muichiro asks.
You slowly walked to the bodies laying on the floor and stared. Just stared. Dried up blood still remained on their bodies. Clearly they weren't eaten by demons, just merely attacked by someone. Even so, they haven't been able to rest in peace for over 10 years. You finally snapped out of it.
"E-eh, sorry! I didn't mean to do that!" you say turining to Giyuu and Muichiro who had concerned looks on their faces.
"Y-you see, those...are my parents.." you managed to say, trying to keep the faint smile on your face.
Silence. You knew they were shocked and didn't know what to say so you stood up.
"I'll start burrying them then.." you say, hearing footsteps walking towards you. It was Giyuu. He picked up your mother and walked outside to burry her. You were glad that he knew you were hurt and didn't want to make things worse.
"Muichiro.. could you help..please?" you say. He walks over to you, clearly sad. You picked up one end of your father and he picked up the other. You all silently burried them both wishing them to rest in peace.
