Thirty-One

I woke up the next morning feeling a sharp hit on my  left leg, I turned in the bed looking up to the ceiling wishing this motel had move than 2 beds so I didn't have to share a bed with Zoe the Kung-fu master. I sighed shuffling to the side to give her more room...even if it meant I was right on the edge of the bed.

"Morning." I heard  a whisper from beside the bed. I turned to the side of the bed and looked down, Alex was allocated the sleeping space between the two single beds so Joe could have the other bed. He had a pillow and a thin blanket we found in the wardrobe. I turned my body so I was lying on my side looking down at him, he had a slight grin on his face one that was contagious.

"How was the floor?" I asked with an amused smile.

"As comfortable as you would expect, thought I'm assuming I had a better sleep than you." He said pointing the end that Zoe was sleeping. Zoe and I slept foot to head, we figured we'd get more space that way...boy was I wrong.

I looked at Zoe and rolled my eye. "I didn't even know she knew karate." Alex quietly laughed then laid in his back.

"Could have joined me at any point, plenty of space down here." I smiled at him

"Id rather be kicked by this one." I said giving him a sly smile. He raised his eyebrows pretending to be shocked. Well I thought he was pretending until he turned his back to me and didn't say a word...I was confused. This took my back to when he became closed off yesterday now this. "Alex." I said his name. He didn't respond. "Alex" I called again but no response. "Oh come on." I said propping myself up onto my right elbow and reaching out to poke him. Just when I was about the jab him on his shoulder. He turned around and grabbed my hand, with enough force he pulled me down from the bed, making me land right on top of him. I tried not to make a sound when my head landed on his chest and my body in between his legs. I looked up to the beds hoping I didn't wake anyone, Joe had his back to us and Zoe was asleep on the far end of the bed. When I knew they were asleep I looked down to Alex, a smirk on his face his hand still holding mine. "Are you crazy!" I whispered pushing myself up slightly and hitting him on his chest with my free arm.

He didn't respond instead he let go of my hand and sat up slightly so we were in close proximity. He unexpectedly placed his hands on either sides of my cheeks and pulled my face down to his. Before I could stop him, he placed his lips on mine bringing me into the field of butterflies...I was becoming a regular in this field. My eyes closed instantly welcoming the warm feeling on my lips. He parted his lips, mine following after and moving our lips together. It wasn't a hungry kiss it was slow and...nice. He pulled away from the kiss and looked at me a smile on his face. "I been wanting to do that since yesterday." He said before kissing me again this time a quick closed mouth kiss. He let go of my face and wriggled from beneath me. He got up and walked to the mini fridge pulling out a bottle of water. He didn't have anything else on other than his black boxers.

I grabbed the pillow in front of me and threw it at him. "What the hell?!" I whispered. Well I thought I whispered but clearly I didn't because Zoe jolted on the bed sitting up.

"Julia? What are you doing in the floor?" She moved to the edge of the bed closest to me. "I'm my gosh did I kick you off the bed?" Alex let out a chuckle, watching the conversation unravel. I side glanced him for a millisecond then turned to Zoe.

"You love to do karate in your sleep Zoe." I half lied blaming her for kicking me off the bed when really the man stood silently laughing to himself was the reason. "Don't worry about it, how are you feeling?" I asked standing up and sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Okay, little less pain everyday." She said trying to move around the bed without wincing but I knew she was struggling a little. I hated seeing her like this. "When are we leaving?"
