Alex met Zoe by the door and the two of them went in. Joe and I watched their movements through the monitor. Everything seemed to be going well. Even though everything appeared fine I didn't feel at ease about this. My eyes followed their every move, the guards moves as they patrolled the corridors.
"How come you didn't argue with him when he said one person needs to go in?" How asked, filling the silence that surrounded us. I hadn't really got the chance to talk to Joe, this maybe the first time the two of us have actually sat down with no one else around. "I mean usually you two love to fight over missions am I right?" He asked pushing the bridge of his glasses up his nose. It didn't take a genius to know that he was nervous about asking.
"It was his task to begin with, there was no point arguing over it." I met his gaze when he turned to look at me with a raised eyebrow. "Do you think there's another reason Joe?" I asked, my voice coming out with a little bit of humour.
"No...no, sorry I didn't mean to..." he started.
"It's fine Joe." I leaned my arm by the window sill. "I thought it would be better if I stayed out here with you and Zoe."
"Zoe in particular huh." I gave him a small smile before looking at the monitor. "She told me about your missions and how close you two are."
"We are very close so you can understand why I was a little hesitant earlier." He nodded his head, his glasses moving slightly. "What about you huh? What's it like working with Alexander Roberts?" I let out a small laugh. Making a joke and small conversation would defiantly lighten the mood, and make this waiting game go quicker.
Joe laughed too, pushing his glasses back up. "Very different to how you and Zoe run it. He's very relaxed with his methods I'll say that. But he gets things done though don't get me wrong." I laughed again, that was Alex to a T. "I like working with him, we're not as close as your guys are but he's a good partner."
"You're very different." I pointed out.
"As are you and Zoe." He noted back. I smirked at him before looking back at the screen. He was right about that, Zoe and I were complete opposites, yet she was the best friend and only friend I had. It's hard to have friends in this lifestyle...very hard.
Alex and Zoe were in the server room now. I listened in on the headsets making sure that everything was going as planned. All that could be heard was Zoe talking to herself as she did what she needed to do and Alex asking how long she needed. I rolled my eyes at his impatience. The guards hasn't moved from their positions meaning Zoe and Alex were fine.
15 minutes passed and they were finally making their way back to us. I had been shocked and relieved when I saw the two of them walk out the back door, Zoe had a huge smile on her face talking enthusiastically about something. Being inside the car made it impossible to hear or make out what they were talking about. Alex ran his hand through his hair laughing at something she had said. If I didn't know any better I'd assume they were becoming friends.
"See piece of cake." Alex said as I climbed out the car and stood in front of him. "Absolutely nothing to worry about right Zo." He said glancing at Zoe who didn't hear him, as she was talking to Joe on the other side of the car.
"Zo?" I asked raising an eyebrow, "You spend 20 minuets together and you already have nicknames?" I let out a sarcastic laugh.
"Don't Get jealous, I can think of a nickname for you too if you want." The smirk on his face followed by a wink made me cringe, my face resembled a sour face at that moment. "You do hurt me Watts."
I didn't respond to him, I shook my head and walked around the car to join Zoe and Joe. "So what now?" I asked leaning on the car, crossing my arms to my chest. Alex wondered over, purposely leaning on the car next to me, so close that his arm was squished onto mine. I looked up to him, but he was focused on joe who began talking. I scooted to the side giving us some room, fortunately he didn't move closer.
