Thirty

"This is where you're staying?" Joe said with judgement in his voice. He stumbled into the motel room leaning onto his walking stick curtesy of the hospital.

Zoe followed after him, holing her nose up high and scanning the room. "So much for the suburban mansion." She mumbled. I rolled my eyes at them acting like spoilt kids.

"Just take a seat will you, we have to fill you guys in." Alex said pointing to one of the beds. At least we shared the same thought of these the spoilt kids infront of us. I was stood by the chest of draws, leaning my back towards it and my arms crossed to my chest. Zoe took a seat at the edge of the bed while Joe waddled Over to sit by the headboard, resting his back on it.

I looked over to Alex. "As we all know from last time HQ has been compromised." I began. "Not just with the arms dealings but with so much more." I didn't want to go into too much detail about my parents but I was certain if the captain was involved in this...what more has he done? "We can't trust anyone anymore. No one."

"You're not making any sense." Zoe said.

"We think that Vince and Jake are working with the Captain. The day before yesterday our house was ambushed and we believe that the captain orchestrated it because we know he's involved." Alex explained.

"The captain? You're wrong!" Zoe said eyebrows furrowed with confusion. "I spoke to him before the attack...I told him what we knew-" she said cutting herself off as if she just realised something. "I told him about closing in on Vince and Jake just before we got attacked." She looked up to me, seconds later she looked down, shaking her head slightly. "He wouldn't betray us and...hurt us." She said, almost questioning just how much she believed her own words. I felt bad for her in this very second.

"I know it's hard to believe right now but you have to trust what we're saying." I spoke up.

"Is Kevin in on this too?" Joe asked looking at Alex.

"Not that we know off, we spoke to Calloway and he confirmed it to us. We aren't working with HQ anymore." He said, walking to the stand in front of the bed. "Any communication to HQ has to stop. they'll figure out your not in hospital soon and come looking for us." He was right, it was only a matter of time before they came searching for us. We didn't have anywhere to go, the mansion was compromised, we couldn't go back to Penny and time soon so we were stuck.

"So...what's the plan?" Joe asked looking between the two of us. "We can't exactly sit around like waiting ducks and we can't let these guys carry on doing what they're doing." He continued.

I pushed myself away from the chest of draws, standing up straight. "First thing first we are getting you two out of here. We can't have you being accessible in your conditions." I said looking at the bruised up Joe and Zoe rocking a bullet wound.

"Julia! Come on-" Zoe began but Alex cut her off.

"She's right, we have to get you out of this town into a different state for now." He said.

Zoe shot her eyes me, silently screaming for me to not send her off. "We have to keep you guys safe and to do that we need you to be away from this-"

"Cut the bullshit Julianna, if you think you can take down the Captain with just the two of you you're wrong." She swung her legs over and winced standing up, keeping her arm to her stomach. "How are you even going to break into HQ without an analyst helping you?" She asked looking between Alex and I again. "I know you two don't even know the first thing about hacking into a building like that. I'm not going."

"Zoe you can barely stand up." I said rolling my eyes at her stubbornness.

"Like I give a shit." She snapped, Joe in the background let out a small laugh earning all our attentions. "Sorry, I'm just trying to picture the two of you taking HQ down alone. I'll give you ten minutes at most."
