"Reid and Rossi head down to the morgue to get the full ME reports. Emily and JJ, try and see if you can get any more information from the Sanders, Morgan and I will go and talk to the Adams, hopefully, they've had some time to recover so we can interview them a bit more," Hotch informed everyone as they all met up in the lobby. Everyone nodded their heads in response before separating into three separate SUVs and going to their designated places.
"Have you found anything new or something that had been unidentified before?" Reid asked as they entered the morgue, the bodies laid out.
"I haven't found anything other than the obvious that they have been slit open. However, the cuts are precise and clean. Only someone with some sort of expertise could have made such incisions," the pathologist informed the duo.
"Are we looking at someone who works in the medical field?" Rossi asked as he watched Reid do his own inspection of the bodies.
"Possibly, the lines were too steady to have been free-handed," she stated.
"Are there any signs of sexual assault?" Reid questioned.
"No, other than the incisions created, there are no other indications of other damage to the bodies."
"So the incisions weren't made postmortem," Reid input. The pathologist shook her sadly.
"Unfortunately they were made antemortem. Though it's very slight, I did find a small trace of morphine in the system. Only a small amount, if there had been any more drugs then they must have bled out."
"So it wouldn't be possible to tell whether or not the victims suffered during the torture," Rossi sighed as he stared at the bodies.
"I think they did suffer," Reid murmured as he sunk down to a lower level, looking intently at the bodies. "Look, there aren't any ligature marks, but the report said that there were lint and other residue from the carpet under their fingernails like they were grasping onto it in pain. Given enough morphine, there would be no need to have them tied because they would've been sedated. I think the unsub only gave them enough morphine to subdue, but not enough to sleep them through the pain," the doctor stood up and watched as a distasteful look appeared on the other agent's face.
"Okay, he tortured them but didn't rape them. So his MO wasn't sexual," Rossi came to the conclusion and Reid nodded in agreement. They thanked the pathologist before leaving the site and heading back to the police station where the others had also reunited.
"The Sanders didn't give us any information that we didn't already know," JJ sighed as Emily slouched in her seat.
"Mr. Adams did say that he was attacked from the front," Hotch said as they all sat down around the table.
"He also said that he felt a prick before losing conscious," Morgan pointed out, lacing his fingers in front of him. Dr. Reid found himself staring at the older's man's hands for a minute too long before speaking up about his own finds. "He also said he had lost consciousness and when he woke up, both women were barely alive."
"Rossi," he thought out loud, looking over at the agent. The other agent understood, dialing Garcia's number quickly.
"PG reporting for hacking duty," her voice sounded as she was put on speaker.
"Can you pull the Adams and Sanders male medical records?" Rossi spoke into the phone.
"Come on, give me something harder than that," she muttered as her fingers clacked loudly.
"Garcia, can you see if all four had traces of morphine in their bloodstreams when found?" Reid asked as he paced slightly.
"Why morphine?" Morgan questioned.
