Isaac's POV:

The mating bond was taking effect. The pull was strong even though Felix is a human. I knew it would be, I could feel it from the first moment I discovered he was my mate. That's why I had to stay away. I didn't want to end up forcing him into an uncomfortable situation because my horny wolf reared his ugly head. Felix deserved better than that. I didn't want to do something to make the situation worse. But I couldn't stop the concern I had for my mate. The natural pull to be close and protect him from anything that could pose a threat. That's why when I saw Felix starting to panic in my office I wrapped him in my arms. I hadnt expected my little mate to react so strongly to me but I guess the bond was stronger because I'm an Alpha. He had almost instantly relaxed in my arms and eventually fell asleep.

I could tell he was tired just by looking at him. Honestly I'm not surprised. He looked like he hadn't been sleeping very well. I guess that makes two of us. Between my horny wolf and the rogues making them selves known I haven't really had the chance to sleep at all either. The exhaustion was like a constant weight on my shoulders for the last week. I pushed through it though, knowing I couldn't let my pack or my mate down. I had responsibilities to both now and finding a balance between the two would prove to be difficult until Felix was marked and mated, or at the very least until I told him about what I am.

"You should take him upstairs and put him to bed. I'm sure a few hours rest in an actual bed would do both of you some good." Mike spoke as he stood and stretched his arms over his head, letting out an groan.

I nodded and slowly adjusted Felix in my arms so that his head was resting against my shoulder and his weight was supported by my arms as I lifted him up. I looked down at my little mate and smiled. His reddish brown hair was a mess and his naturally pale skin was slightly flushed. His beautiful lips were slightly parted and I could feel his warm breaths brushing against my neck. Having my mate so close was a blessing and a curse at the same time as Castien pushed a little more to the surface to be closer to our mate. Him being closer to the surface meant id be on edge and more likely to snap if someone fucked up. I didn't need that happening with Felix here. It could potentially make our situation so much harder.

"I'm going to put him in one of the guest rooms in my suite. I'll link you or Cassie when her wakes up so Michael can come and see his dad. I'm not to be disturbed until further notice." I informed Mike and he nodded in agreement.

I immediately turned with Felix tucked safe in my arms and left the room. I opted to take the elevator instead of the stairs so I wouldn't risk jostling Felix any more than necessary. I passed a few pack member who eyed us with curious or knowing looks but they immediately looked away when meeting my eyes. It took some careful maneuvering on my part but eventually We made it to the floor where my personal suite was and I pressed my thumb into the security pad after entering my code to open the door. The heavy metal door clicked open and I pushed my way inside, kicking the door closed behind me. I made my way through the living areas and down the hall to the guest bedroom that sat across form my own room. I didn't want to have him too far away in case he needed me but I didn't think he'd be okay with waking up in my bed.

I didn't bother pulling back the covers on the massive king sized bed, I just laid him down on the soft cotton bedding. He let out a whimper and I moved to back away but stopped. I couldn't stand up because he had unconsciously fisted his hands into my shirt and wouldn't let go.  I tried to gently untangle his fingers but it wasn't working and I didn't want to risk waking him up.

"No!" It was so soft I almost missed it. I worried I'd had woken him up but I looked and his eyes were still closed and he was breathing softly.

'Stay with mate!' Castien growled within me, happy that our mate didn't seem to want to be away from us.
