Felix's POV :

!!WARNING THERE ARE TRIGGERING TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS CHAPTER!!

"Felix, can you get the plates out of that top cabinet for me? The macaroni is almost done." She asks as she mixes the cheesy deliciousness in the pot.

"This one?" I ask, pointing at the cabinet above my head.

"Yes. Grab the paw patrol plates for the boys and a couple of bowls for us. This is ready. I'll grab the silverware." She answers as she pulls the pot off of the burner and switches it off.

I grab the plates and bowls then hand them over to Cassie, who thanks me, before heading for the living room. That's where I find the boys with their eyes glued to the T.V. watching paw patrol.

I quickly find the remote and switch the T.V. off before saying, "Boys come eat, lunch is ready."

"Okay Daddy!" Michael giggles and grabs Dante's hand pulling him along behind him.

I lift the boys up onto the seats, sitting them next to each other and go to help Cassie dish out the food.

"What's we having mommy?" Dante asks before Cassie sets his plate in front of him and he lets out a happy giggle.

"Yay! Macaronis and cheese!" Michael cheers when I set his plate in front of him.

The boys smile happily as they dig into their food, completely content.

"Thank you." I whisper when Cassie hands me my own bowl of food.

"You're welcome!" She replies with a smile and we both take a seat on wither side of the boys at the breakfast bar.

I take slow careful bites, not wanting to upset my stomach. I'm able to eat a little less than half of it before my stomach rolls letting me it's time to stop eating. I stand up with my bowl and make my way over to the trash bin. I scrape out the remaining contents of my bowl before heading to the sink and rinsing the bowl.

Right as I switch off the tap The front door clicks and opens, revealing a troubled looking Mike. I can see tension in his body as he moves further into the room, his eyes scanning over all of us before he give a small smile.

Cassie gets up immediately had heads over to him, wrapping her arms around him. Mike leans down and presses a kiss to her hair as he does the same and he releases a contented sigh. You can practically see the tension melt away from him. I look away quickly, feeling like I'm intruding on a intimate moment.

By this time the boys have finished their food and they are looking up at me waiting to be excused so I wave them off and collect their plates. They boys hopped down and ran for the living room and a second later I hear the T.V. turn back on.

I move over to the sink and clean the boy plates and rinse the silverware off before grabbing a towel and drying the now clean dishes. I replace the dishes where they belong before turning to see Cassie and Mike looking at me expectantly with worried eyes.

I clear my throat before asking, "What's wrong?"

They share a look before Cassie speaks up, giving me a gentle smile," Nothing to worry about hun."

"It's okay, Isaac asked to see you in his office though, so we'd better get going. I love my brother but he isn't the most patient of men when he sets his mind to something." Mike added and I couldn't help but feel there was a double meaning behind his words.

"Oh, okay." I nod but can't help but feel the worry bubble up inside of me and Mike gestures for me to follow him.

Is this where Isaac changes his mind about us staying? We are just strangers after all.
