Felix's POV :
"Daddy!" Michael squeals as he runs to me, pulling a smiling Dante behind him.
I smile and crouch down, scooping him up in my arms and planting a kiss on his cheek.
"Hello." Dante says with a smile as he watches us.
"Hello boys, how was school today?" I ask, ruffling Dante's hair.
He pushes my hand away and fixes his hair with a pout, making me laugh.
"It was good Daddy! We gots to make hand turkeys and we painted lots!" Michael cheers.
"Oh you did, did you. What did you paint today?" I ask as I switch Michael so he supported with one hand and grab hold of Dante's hand with my free one.
I turn and head for my car, or I should say Isaac's car. The thing was practically a tank. It was a huge SUV with bullet proof glass and armored interior. I didn't see the need for it but after the attack on our date night Isaac wasn't taking any chances. I tried to argue that being more inconspicuous would be better but he wasn't listening so I gave in and agreed to use it. I agreed more for the boy's safety than my own though, since the only reason I'm leaving the house at the moment is to pick them up or drop them off on my days to do so.
"Michie and me did pictures of each other! We were s'posed to make a picture of our friends." Dante answers with a giggle.
"Teacher says we gets to show them for parent teacher day!" Michael says
We reach the car and I let go of Dante's hand to open the doors so he can climb in. Once he's in I set Michael down so he can climb into his booster seat next to Dante and I make sure they are both securely buckled in before closing the door. I climb into the driver seat and buckle my self in. I wait until I see an identical black SUV pull out before I do the same, following close behind.
As I drive I glance up in my rearview mirror and see another vehicle following behind us and I sigh, feeling a little frustrated. I focused back on the road with a huff and try to ignore the irritation building inside of me. I'm grateful for the protection and part of me knows it's necessary because of all of this shit going down but I couldn't help but feel like Isaac was going overboard with the guards. It's been a few days since our date and so far nothing else had happened.
The morning after the attack Isaac had woken up and I was right there at his side, waiting for answers. He was weak but strong enough to sit up and speak so I decided there was no time like the present to ask my questions.
"Hey sleepyhead." I mumble as I see his eyes flutter open.
His eyes are unfocused for a moment before they zero in on me and widen slightly. I can see the gears turning in his head.
"Hey." He croaked out, his eyes shooting around the room before landing back on me.
"How do you feel. Are you in any pain?" I ask as I stand up to get him a glass of water.
I make my way over to the sink and pull a plastic cup off of the nearby stack before filling it with tap water. I turn and walk back over to the bed and hand him the cup which he takes with a shaky hand and a grateful smile. He takes a couple of sips of water before lowering the glass and smiling nervously.
He hesitates slightly and I can tell he's waiting for something but he eventually answers, "No, no pain, just a little uncomfortable. I feel so weak."
"You lost a lot of blood, Isaac. You could have died." I remind him with a frown, not liking the idea of him dying one bit.
"I had to protect you. I couldn't let them get to you Fleix, they would have taken you." He answered and I stiffen, wondering what he meant. What could they possibly want with me?
