The Hunt Begins

I sat on my queen-sized bed, with my back against the soft pillows and laptop on my lap. My eyes squinted as I stared at the screen in front of me. I was researching on some jobs that I might be interested in but failed as my heart never moved upon reading about any of them. I sighed and closed the bright screen. It would have been easier to get the job I had wanted before when I was younger, well, if I were still passionate about it. However, my desire for that specific course I wanted to study grew thin as I grew older. After all, it was a dream almost impossible to reach.

Since well... I was not the best.

I set my 13-inch laptop aside and laid on my bed, recalling everything that happened in my life. If only those problems never happened. If only I hadn't studied so hard. No, if only I hadn't hoped so much.

I shook my head and closed my eyes. Tomorrow is another day. Another day to stare at my computer and figure out what I want to work as. I sighed again and rolled over when my phone suddenly started singing my ringtone, "Candy", by Byun Joshua. I loved that guy. He was my favourite singer and I fell in love with his voice before even knowing how he looked like. I grabbed my phone from the bedside table and saw Mildred's name appear. Smiling, I quickly answered her call and said,

"Heyo bestie! What's up?"

"OMG Amber! Guess what? Byun Joshua is coming to Singapore in July!"

"WHAT?!" I exclaimed and immediately switched on my laptop again and went to the Singapore concerts website. Mildred was right, my role model was coming to our country!

"Yo, are you still there?" My best friend asked, still on the line.

"Yeah I just checked the website and you were right! I can't believe it, this is his 5th tour and one of his destinations is here! It's like a dream come true." I said brightly.

"I know right, it seemed like it was impossible for him to come here before since he usually performed in Korea and in the States. But I guess many fans kept petitioning for him to perform here and it worked!"

I continued scrolling through the website on his concert and it was on the 29th, my birthday. What a coincidence!

"Amber, you know what's better? My parents said that we could go together and they would pay for us since it's your birthday then! I've already got the tickets!" Mildred said excitedly and my heart almost stopped. I could finally meet THE Byun Joshua. The one person who I admired so much and who saved me from what happened in secondary school.

"HEY, YOU STILL THERE?" My best friend suddenly yelled into my ear. I distanced myself from the phone and rubbed my ear, annoyed.

"YAH! Of course I am. It was just so surreal, we could finally meet the man with that heavenly voice."

"Haha, sorry. I thought you fainted lol. But anyway, it is real. So you better make sure to be free on that day. Don't say you need to cancel cause of studies or whatever again."

"Don't worry, I wouldn't miss it for the world."
