I woke up to see nobody beside me. I looked around and realised that I was in my room. Did Josh carry me here after I fell asleep? I slowly got up from my bed and dragged myself to the bathroom. I had difficulty walking as my legs were hurting so much. I used the sink as a support and saw myself in the mirror. I noticed that I was wearing Josh's hoodie, which was oversized for me, and a pair of shorts. My hand went to my neck to check the bandage but ended up feeling other marks on my shoulder blades and collar bone. Memories from last night came flooding back to me and I started feeling hot. My cheeks became bright red and I quickly washed my face.
I went out of the bathroom and tried to find my phone. As I was searching through the tables full of stacks of papers, I tripped on a large book and fell onto the ground. "Ouch!" I cried out. My legs were already hurting just from waking. Now how was I supposed to get up? I slowly tried to get on my feet, using my arms to raise me. I managed to stand up straight but ended up wobbling and almost falling when I felt a pair of arms catch me. I looked up and saw Josh looking concerned.
"Amber, are you alright? Do your legs hurt? I'm sorry, I should've gone easier on you." His sentence made me blush furiously and I looked away.
"I-It's fine. It's noth-nothing," I stuttered. How on earth was he so calm about everything right now? Josh realised how uncomfortable I was and lifted me up. My eyes grew wide as I asked what he was doing. Ignoring me, he brought me out of the room to the kitchen. The scent of bacon and eggs filled the house. He sat me down on a chair and came down to my eye level.
"Listen Amber, you don't need to be embarrassed about whatever happened last night. I'm... glad that you trusted me. So don't worry. I will make sure you get better and help you alright? Don't walk around on your own for now. Your legs will hurt a lot," he said then pecked me on the lips. I smiled and nodded at him. He sat down on the seat opposite me and we started eating the scrumptious breakfast he made. I wish he would cook for me every day. It would be paradise.
"You know, this bacon reminds me of Byun Baekhyun. I can't believe you have the same last name as one of my favourite singers!" I laughed out loud at the end but stopped when I saw Josh's soft expression change to a cold demeanour.
"He's your favourite singer?" He asked, emotionless. I gulped. Was he jealous? I thought about it for a while and decided to tease him a little.
"Yeah, of course. I have been listening to him since secondary school. All of his songs are so amazing and he looks so cute!" I started fangirling and Josh got even more annoyed. He placed his utensils on the plate and got up.
"Josh? Where are you going? We haven't finished eating yet," I questioned him and he just walked away. Shoot, did I irritate him too much? But he isn't seriously angry, right? He knows that I love him more than Byun Baekhyun.
"Josh! Wait!" I yelled for him and tried to stand up. However, I forgot about my weak legs and made contact with the floor instead. I cried out in pain and Josh turned back to see me on the ground. He ran back and helped me up.
"What were you thinking?! Why did you get up when you can't go anywhere by yourself?" Josh lectured me and my mouth turned into a frown.
"Well, I wouldn't have stood up if my boyfriend hadn't left me alone just cause he was jealous of another celebrity. Like what the hell? You know I love you more than anyone else in the world yet; you chose to be mad over such a small thing?" I pushed him away and tried to get up by myself. Of course, I failed and he caught me again.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't control myself earlier. I knew you were just kidding but hearing you compliment another guy made me so crazy. I felt like I wasn't good enough for you since I'm not as amazing as Byun Baekhyun," he admitted his insecurities and looked down, feeling guilty for what he did. I sighed and reassured him, "It's alright. You don't need to compare yourself to others. I love you just the way you are because you are you Josh. My one and only lover." He looked back at me as if asking if I was sure. I grinned at him and wrapped my arm around his neck. "Now help me get back on the seat. I wanna eat finish and prepare for my upcoming audition!" Josh chuckled and lifted me back onto the chair.
We finished our food and I was practising my singing in the living room. Josh was helping me out as well, giving me tips and teaching me how to use my voice to my full potential. My legs got better over time and hours had gone by when the doorbell rang. I wasn't expecting anyone and saw Josh glance at me. I shrugged and went to answer the door. There wasn't anyone there but just a parcel on the floor. I didn't order anything though. Bewildered, I took the package in and closed the door. Josh saw what I was carrying and looked at it curiously. I took a penknife and cut the tape. As I opened the box, my eyes widened.
"AHHHH!" I screamed as tears started forming in my eyes and I ran away to the corner of the room. Josh saw my reaction and came to me concerned.
"What's wrong? What was in the box?" He asked in a docile tone and I just shook my head. I couldn't say anything. I just couldn't believe someone sent something so horrifying to me. It was like my worst nightmare was coming true.
Josh hugged me and said that everything was going to be alright. He wiped the tears off my cheeks and kissed my forehead. However, I couldn't stop sobbing. My end was near, I could feel it. They know where I live and could come for me tonight even. Josh sighed and walked to the box. He too was speechless when he saw the contents inside. He took out the white piece of paper beside the bloody weapon and read the note.
"Time for me to finish what I started. Hope this syringe reminds you of me(:"
