Knowing You A Little Better

Around 10 minutes had passed with Joshua and I getting to know each other better. We had a lot of things in common like blue being our favourite colour and meat being our favourite food. I checked my watch and thought that it would be better for us to go back to class. Joshua wasn't sure at first but he gave in after I pleaded and said that I was really fine.

Once again, he held me by the waist and I held his shoulder for support. We thanked the staff as we left the general office and made our way to the elevator. Since I was injured, I was given permission to use it as I couldn't really use the stairs in this state. We went up to the 3rd floor and walked to our classroom. Our Math teacher was shocked when she saw me limping and helped me, along with Joshua, to my seat. I thanked the both of them and she continued her lesson. Joshua went to his seat which was 2 seats behind in the right column next to mine.

I took out my book and went into focus mode immediately as I tried to catch up on what I missed. The topic indeed wasn't hard, just like what Joshua said before. However, it would be hard to understand if one doesn't have a good foundation in graphs. Unfortunately, I wasn't good with graphs. I understood the concepts but it was hard for me to draw the stupid curves. I just really sucked at drawing!

After one hour, Math was finally over. I closed my book and rested my head on it. It was aching from figuring out how to draw graphs. I could never understand those people who could control their hands when drawing curves. I couldn't even control the damn ruler.

My eyes were closed when I heard a girl's voice call my name. I opened my eyes and saw Melissa. She handed me a sticky note that had messy handwriting on it. She then scurried off to her seat on the other side of the classroom. I then read the words on the note she gave me and my eyes widened.

"Meet me after school tomorrow at the field again. Let's make a deal and I won't hurt you."

I didn't know why but I had a bad feeling about this. Wayne already caused me to injure my leg on my birthday, now what does he want?

The thought of telling Joshua about this came to me. "He did say that he would help me from now on. But I don't want to keep disturbing him. I'll just not meet that Wayne guy tomorrow," I thought and took out my Chemistry textbook as I saw the teacher enter the classroom for the next lesson.

School ended and I was packing my bags to go home. Joshua came to my table.

"Ready to go?" He asked.

I raised a brow. "Why are you waiting for me? Don't you go home with your group of friends?"

"I said I'll take care of you from now on remember? So I'll take you home and bring you to school too. My friends are cool with me not hanging out with them. After all, I always talk to them in school so it's not a big deal."

I took his words in and grinned. I thanked him again for his consideration and finished packing my bag. I was about to get up and carry it, but he beat me to it. He took my bag away from me and carried it on his back. The way he places my bag on top of his looked so weird that I giggled a little.

Joshua looked at me strangely, "What's so funny?"

"Lol nothing. Just that you look like a turtle carrying the bags like that. I can carry my own bag you know."

"OOF. I do not look like a turtle. And it's fine, carrying your bag will just cause more weight on your ankle. I'll help you carry it until your foot completely heals."

I looked down, slightly embarrassed. He was being so nice to me although we only met today. I knew he wouldn't let me reject his offer so I just thanked him again and he held me so that we could walk back to my house. Fortunately, I take the bus to and fro school so I didn't need to walk that much. We got onto the bus and sat together. I took my bag from him and placed it on my lap. It was really noisy cause of the crowd and I didn't like it so I took out my Bluetooth headphones from inside my bag and connected it to my phone. Joshua saw what I was doing curiously.

"Why do you usually wear headphones? I've never seen you wear earpieces before. Isn't it lighter carry those instead of these big headphones?" He questioned.

"Well, I would want to use earphones but I have eczema and wearing them caused an infection for me before. I can wear them now but not too often. I've also grown used to wearing headphones instead of earphones over the last few years. How did you know I only wore headphones?"

"Well, you would always take them out immediately after class ends and wear them once you reach the exit of the school. I would sometimes see you walk into school bobbing your head to the music with headphones on as well."

I giggled, "Wow, you're really observant."

"So what do you listen to?"

"Hmm.. I listen to different artists but half of my songs are in English and the other half are Kpop."

"Oh! I listen to Kpop as well!" Josh said, which surprised me a little. I thought boys never really cared about Kpop. Maybe I got that mentality cause I had been in an all-girls school for 4 years before.

"Really? I didn't expect that, especially from a guy lol."

"Yeah, usually people think that only girls listen to Kpop but I have been listening to it since I was really young. My dad is Korean so I even learnt the language and understood the songs."

My mouth went agape. "You've learnt Korean? OMG please teach me! I've always wanted to learn but couldn't understand the online lessons in the internet."

"Haha, sure! We can meet up and you can teach me Math while I teach you Korean. We can be study buddies!"

I yelped out a "Yay!" and we hi-fived each other.

"Wait, but aren't you good at Math already? From what I know, you scored 'A's in all your subjects."

Joshua rubbed his neck and giggled awkwardly. "Well, I don't understand some parts and you seem to be amazing. You scored full marks before so I would appreciate your help hehe."

I looked away, his consistent compliments are gonna make my heart burst. He even remembered that I scored full marks when the teacher announced it although it was in the first term.

"Sure! I would love to help you hehe. How about we start studying together at the library on Friday this week?"

He nodded with a smile and looked back to the front. For the rest of the ride, I listened to songs in my playlist and closed my eyes.
