The night passed and my eyes opened to see that I was still in the penthouse. Was last night all just a dream? I was still in my pyjamas and lying on Josh's and my bed. I sat up while rubbing my eyes. Then, I saw white bandages wrapped around my right foot. Nope, everything was real.

At that moment, Mildred entered the room with a set of clean clothes of mine. "Amber! You're awake! Everyone was so worried about you, especially Josh. Thank goodness you're alright."

"Hey Mildred. Yeah I'm fine. What happened anyways? Where is Josh? And how come you're here?"

"Waaa... so many questions! Firstly, the doctor came and sorted out your bleeding foot. Josh had to meet his manager to talk about something so he told me to come here to take care of you. Why? Do you not like me being here hmm?"

"Haha, of course not. I'm glad that everything's been sorted out," I let out a loud sigh of relief and sunk my head back into the pillow. Mildred giggled and pulled my left arm.

"Come on Amber! You need to get up and change your bandages." Mildred pulled me up as I just whined, wanting to go back to sleep. In the end, she won and helped me to go to the bathroom. She then cleaned my wound and wrapped a new bandage around it. After she was done, I thanked her and looked around the room, realizing something was amiss.

"Mildred, what happened to the broken window? And the glass on the floor from last night?"

"Oh, Josh asked some of his helpers to help him clean up the glass pieces as he took care of you last night. He also didn't want to have the window remain broken, just in case like it rains or some robber gets in. So one of his helpers, who was also a repair man, fixed the window and by this morning, the room was speckless and back to normal."

"Wait, so Josh didn't sleep at all last night?"

"Nope. After the window was fixed, he carried you back here. Apparently, he had something really urgent to discuss with his manager so he left as soon as the sun came up. He didn't want to leave you alone so he called me to take care of you."

I comprehended what she told me and just nodded my head. I wonder what was so urgent that Josh couldn't wait to talk to his manager about?

The sun soon set and the moon had risen in the starry night. Mildred and I spent the entire day just doing random stuff at home, like playing card games and chatting. Apparently, she and Officer Zeph were hanging out a lot and she was kind of becoming more and more interested in him. She said that he was really sweet and funny. She could also tell that he was very passionate about his work from the way he described all of the cases he solved before. I was glad to see that they were doing well. However, our conversation was cut short when Mildred received a call about needing to fetch her younger brother from a club. She sighed and told me that she texted Josh about her leaving and he replied that he was on his way back already. I smiled and sent her off at the door. I knew that Mildred had a lot of responsibilities. She was the older child in her family and always needed to take care of her sibling's carelessness. I hope everything gets better with whatever was happening with her brother. He usually doesn't drink unless something really serious occurred.

I was preparing to go to sleep when I realised that my phone went missing. I searched everywhere for it and found it on the coffee table in the living room, dead. I sighed and looked for a charger to charge it. I went back into my room and tossed and turned in bed, trying to fall asleep. However, whenever I looked at the window, I was reminded of my near-death experiences. I almost got killed. Not once. Not twice. But three times!

Out of the blue, I heard the sound of footsteps in the living room. My heart began to palpitate rapidly as I thought of someone invading the house. Was it a robber? Or another killer? Did Matthew have an accomplice and wasn't done with me yet? I began feeling weak and insecure again. Terror was getting the better of me as I tried to find something to protect myself. I spotted a belt that was hanging near the door and crept slowly to it. However, the door suddenly opened and I closed my eyes as I fell onto the ground. Instinctively, I brought my knees in and curled up into a ball.
