Chapter 5

Mountain Troll

I walked briskly through the halls of Hogwarts, Hermione stood beside me talking aimlessly about spells she had learned and I was listening intensely the girl could put up a decent struggle with me when it came to me but she excelled over everyone else. We stopped outside our charms class entering quickly and sitting down she sat down beside Ron and I sat with Harry, Aurelia sitting to my other side, Professor Filius Flitwick stood at the top of the room upon a tall stack of books, he was the head of Ravenclaw and he seemed like a rather sweet man despite his appearance.

"I will begin the class be teaching you the levitation spell, 'wingardium leviosa' a rather easy spell now remember children swish and flick" he spoke clearly and strongly I already knew this spell, I could even do it without having to speak which was rather an amazing skill. William had said that not many people could cast spells without speaking and praised me heavily for it, I hadn't spoken to the tan boy for a while and a wave of sadness swept over me we had both been rather busy with classes. I waved my wand and it began the feather began to float around the room gracefully until I waved my wand down causing the feather to drop back onto my desk. "Well Done, Miss Windsor class please transfer your eyes to the young lady she shall demonstrate" He spoke glancing at me and I stood up and flicked my wand and the feather began to hover once again and the classroom erupted into applause I did a small curtsey and a miniature blush erupted onto my (s/c). I sat down quickly and I looked over at Ron he still hasn't spoken to me and I frowned bitterly he began speaking "Wingardium Levosaaaaa" he droned swiping his wand violently and Hermione stopped him "you're going to take out somebodies eye!" she glared at him "if you're so smart you do it!" he retorted and so she did I smiled warmly at her, the brunette began to grow on me, in all honesty, I no longer perceived her as a "know it all" but rather an acquaintance or even a friend.

Ron huffed and in no time the class was over, I made my way to the great hall I wasn't too famished, I sat down beside Aurelia, I hadn't spoken to the girl much she was rather quiet and shy but I respected that and I tried to get her to open up to me but sadly she hasn't yet. I began to speak to her quieting down when I heard Neville say Hermione had been in the bathroom crying all afternoon. I discarded my cloak and set it down on my thighs "Aurelia could you possibly watch my cloak if I nip to the bathroom?" I questioned my eyes examining her appearance "of course (name)" she nodded her blonde hair bouncing and I grinned mouthing a thank you as I stood up exiting the great hall.

When I finally entered the bathroom I could hear Hermione's soft wailings and I felt terrible for her. I tapped on the stall "Hermione? whatever happened?" I questioned sympathy laced in my tone "Ron said I had no friend's" she grumbled and opened the stall door collapsing into my arms and sobbed, she soaked my school jumper but I didn't mind "well Mione' you and I are rather astonishing friends if I may say so myself" I muttered petting her hair she pushed away from my jumper "do you really mean it" she inquired and I nodded "now go clean your face" I demanded and she giggled and we made conversation as she dabbed water and tissues onto her face she turned to face me and her eyes widened "b-behind you!!" she shrieked and I turned around quickly staring at a mountain troll and a gaped "into the stalls Hermione! Quickly!!" I grabbed the girls arm shouldering her into a stall, the troll swung at the stalls and we both dropped to the floor screaming. "Over here you smelly oaf" I heard a voice shout and I sighed in Relief Ron and Harry was here. "Hermione move go under the sinks" I hissed and she complied scrambling under the sinks and I began following her before Harry roared my name and I spun around and he tossed my cloak to me and I beamed taking my wand from the cloak pocket and slipping it on. The troll turned smashing the sink next to Hermione and she squawked "Alarte Ascendre" I shouted and the beast flew into the air but got back onto his feet rather quickly for such a massive troll, my grin faded as it swung its hammer ready to thump me I rotated out of the way and I watched while Harry climbed onto the troll and thrust his wand up the beast's nostrils and I grimaced at the display the troll grabbed harry by his foot and turned him upside down "Do Something!" he screamed at Ron, "Remember swish and flick" Hermione shouted at the ginger and he acknowledged "Wingardium Leviosa" Ron swished his wand and the trolls hammer floated above him smashing him in the head and the troll dropped to the floor unconscious. "Thank Merlin" I sighed in relief throwing myself into Ron's arms I kissed his cheek and turned to harry and done the same the two boys flushing red Hermione quickly hugged harry in relief just as Ron was about to speak the sound of many footsteps echoed through the halls and we all looked at each other and gulped we were really in for it now. Snape, Quirell and Miss McGonagall appeared in the doorway "What in the name of Merlin happened here!" she looked at the four of us and I rubbed my neck sheepishly, "Hermione and I were in the bathroom and the troll just appeared" I began and Hermione interjected, "If it wasn't for (name) Ron and Harry I would be dead Miss" she finished looking up at the teachers, "Five points will be deducted from Gryffindor because of your three's stupidity, but five points will be added each for sheer dumb luck, Miss Windsor I leave your fate to Professor Snape" she said looking at the trio "15 points to Slytherin" the black-haired man spoke walking off McGonagall following him. Quirell spoke to us "I suggest you four leave before it wakes back up" he shuddered and we nodded leaving the bathroom.

As we walked back to our dorms the trio told me about fluffy, harry's invisibility cloak  I nodded intrigued by the trios theories about what the three-headed dog was protecting bidding them a farewell as we had to split down different hallways
