Furballs.

Staggering under the weight of the Libary books in their arms, Harry and Ron make their way to Hermione's bed, they insisted I didn't carry any they'd been awfully nice to me since they heard what Draco said about me we arrived at Hermione's bed which is covered in...books. I sighed this girl was hopeless. "Oh, good. Put those anywhere. They look. There is no anywhere. So they just... drop them." Hermione stuttered and the two boys dropped the books on the floor as I handed Hermione some chocolate frogs she smiled happily at me. "Madam Pince asked that we relay a message to you, Hermione: She'dappreciate it if you'd leave a fewbooks for the rest of the school," Ron stated and she looked offended, "I've got to keep up, haven't I?" She replied as her tail came into view. "when is that thing going to go away?" I questioned touching it gently and Hermione Purred she fucking Purred I let go quickly and she looked at me "Any day now, according to MadamPomfrey. I'm just thankful I'vestopped coughing up fur balls." she laughed lightly as did the rest of us. "we all are" Ron looked grossed out. "Now. What about the Chamber of Secrets? Any new leads?" and we all shook our heads. "And has it gotten any better? Imean... is anyone speaking to you guys?" She looked at Harry "Neville asked to borrow a tubewormin Potions yesterday. I supposethat's something." Harry replied and Hermione turned to look at me "what about you" "I haven't been to class much the past two weeks, I've been ill" I smiled at her Harry and Ron looking at me I was lying about being ill. since Malfoys outburst, I fell down a spiralling hole of my dad's death and I couldn't claw myself out of it, but I was getting there. I moved my hair behind my ears as Ron inched closer to Hermione's bed. He pulled a get well soon card out from under her pillow and I snatched it from him and read it. 'To Miss Granger. Wishing you aspeedy recovery, from yourconcerned teacher GilderoyLockhart.' "you sleep with this under your pillow?!" I gagged in mock disgust and Hermione went scarlet "Of course not. I don't know howthat got there. Now go. I stillhave six hundred pages to read inTransformation Through the Ages."

We walked through the halls and ended up on the second floor. "I know Hermione's mental, but canyou believe she falls for thatsmarmy nonsense of Lockhart's?" Ron faked sick and I and Harry laughed, "He's a fraud!" I said and the boys laughed but I was being dead serious. We stop and look down a great flood of water streams from the Girls' Bathroom. From within, myrtle can be heard crying and moaning "I wonder what happened this time?". "Looks like Myrtle's flooded thebathroom." Harry giggled.  As Harry sploshes off toward the bathroom, Ron and I step lightly to avoid getting too wet.  Myrtles loud cries echo off the dreary tiles. All the taps are running, streaming like tiny waterfalls. As we step towards the last cubicle, Myrtle spins to us looking at us accusingly. "Come to throw something else at me?" She cried out "why would we throw something at you myrtle?" I smiled at her kindly and she calmed down slightly. "Don't ask me. Here I am, mindingmy own business, and someonethinks it's funny to throw a bookat me.." Myrtle whined and Ron looked confused. "But it can't hurt if someone throws something at you. I mean, it'd just go right through you, wouldn't it?" he questioned. She zoomed towards Ron inches from his face "Oh sure! Let's all throw books atMyrtle because she can't feel it!Ten points if you can get itthrough her stomach. Fifty pointsif it goes through her head!" she cried dramatically. "Who threw it at you anyway?" I questioned and she looked at me "I don't know. I didn't see them.I was just sitting in the U-bend,thinking about death and it fellthrough the top of my head." she groaned sadly and threw herself into the toilet. Harry notices a small black book and picks it up it looks oddly familiar I just can't place it. "Fifty points if you can get itthrough her nose." Ron joked "I heard that" Myrtle shrieked from the toilet and we all ran from the bathroom.

Harry examines the book "This is a diary. And it's old..." Harry trailed off seemingly in thought, "It's a diary, it's old... and was most recently in a toilet, Harry." Ron laughed at the boy and Harry reached to open it, I grabbed his wrist "Are you mad? That could be cursed!" I shouted at him "Dad once told me about a book the Ministry confiscated thatburned the eyes out of anyone whotried to read it." Ron added and I nodded. "I'll take my chances..." Harry opened the book "Ahhh! MY EYES! MY EYES!" he shrieked and I shoved the book from his hand terrified I grabbed his face in my hands and began to try to examine his eyes, Ron froze in terror. Harry grins, ending the ruse and I glared at him letting go of his face and started to lecture him, he picked the book back up. I looked to the end of the corridor, to see Ginny standing there, looking from the diary to Harry -- utter terror on her face -- then dashes off. "Ginny! I was only joking -- Brilliant. Even your sister thinks I'm the monster now." Harry called out after her. "Who doesn't?" Ron frowned when he realized what he had said. Harry opened the diary and I peered over his shoulder reading it 'Tom Marvelo Riddle' etched into it the name also sounded familiar, I heard mother speaking of a Mr Riddle before maybe its the same person. "I recognize the name, mother mentioned it once or twice. maybe I can owl her and ask her who it is?" I looked at Harry who nodded, "No Need! Of course! The night I haddetention... My job was to polishthe silver in the trophy room. Iremember because I kept burping slugs all over Tom Riddle's trophy. I must have wiped slimeoff his name for an hour." Ron stated proudly and I smiled at him. Harry began flicking through the pages, they were all empty, "That's odd. He never wrote in it." I spoke confusedly. Who has a diary and then doesn't write in it, that rules out this being Ginny's diary, her name isn't Tom and she always writes in it so it made no sense, It couldn't be... no, it could. I excused myself from the boys and began walking towards the dungeons. I was thinking and it hit me.

'Chronique maudite' roughly translates to cursed chronicle. Basically, the reader realizes Ginny has been writing in a cursed journal that drains her life force, she knows this because of her father and the many things he thought her, what she does not know is whom cursed the journal and obviously she will find out. She will confront Ginny but not until a little bit further in.
