Having Glorfindel As A Father Figure

(Requested by anon: Hello! May I request a fluffy Father!Glorfindel headcanon? With reader as a teen and they don’t have a great relationship with their family and is just constant surprise pikachu when he does anything remotely nice. I always felt like Glory would be such a fun dad to have 😂😂

Author's Notes: hi anon 💕💕💕 once again I am here to apologize for taking too long to write this 😭😭😭 I was a bit busy with enrollment and a bit unwell because of braces and the changing of seasons because it's spring here so it took some time for me to get inspired again to write. But I hope you like it!

I tried to incorporate the fun dad Glorfindel but I couldn't fully put emphasis on it since I'm not good at doing headcanons and I needed to show the transition from being strangers to being family. I hope it's okay 💕💕

• As someone who doesn't have a great relationship with their family, you were always curious as to how it would be like if you grew up in a loving one

• You had an idea, what with all the movies and books you've seen and read, and you have people and friends around you who absolutely loved and cared for their families

• But it didn't mean that you wouldn't be surprised if ever you found people who would consider you their family

• So when you were brought to Middle Earth and a golden haired ellon (the Balrog slayer guy, the one who died and came back to Middle Earth guy, the good-looking guy, yes that guy) suddenly decided to "adopt" you

• Well... It was indeed full of surprises

• Glorfindel became a gentleman, a friend, a brother, and a father figure to you while you were there

• When the other elves bothered you with questions that you yourself don't know the answer ("How did you end up here?") he was the one to get you out of there

• When you were still trying to work out your way around Imladris, he took it upon himself to guide you

• When you thought it would be a good idea to learn their language or learn how to fight, he was already ahead of you and had already arranged it so you had time to learn with him

• It was like having a friend whom you could depend on, a friend whom you could laugh and talk of silly things with

• Glorfindel became like an older brother to you once you got more comfortable around him, and that was when you started to do the face in that meme:

• That "surprised Pikachu" meme

• Whenever Glorfindel saw that your favorite dessert was being served, he would give his share to you (if it had strawberries and you love strawberries he would take ALL of it and secretly hand it over to you under the table and if, like me, you don't like cherries, then he'll take it and eat them for you because we don't waste food here)

• He could see if you were uncomfortable or anxious about something just by looking at how you acted (you could be hugging yourself, biting your nails, biting your lips or inside of your cheeks, you could be tensed—whatever it is, he can tell) and he'd do his best to calm you

• Glorfindel would inch himself closer to you and would discreetly hold your hand and give it a comforting squeeze, place an arm around your shoulder, or smile down at you and whisper, "I'm here—there's nothing to he afraid of."

• You would always be so surprised whenever you were on the receiving end of these thoughtful and kind actions but you were able to not make it obvious

• Glorfindel, of course, saw you making the 'surprised pikachu face' but didn't think much of it at first

• But the moment you realized that Glorfindel treated you like a daughter, like family, that was when that face became your more prominent expression

• It started when, while the two of you were taking a stroll around Imladris, elves on horses came with news from Lothlorien

• The news must have been something Glorfindel already knew or was something he had been anticipating to happen. And because of how troubled he looked, you knew this was ill news

• As he walked back to follow the elves that had arrived, he stretched his arm towards you and gestured for you to come

• It was all normal for you until Glorfindel said,

• "Come, my child, let us go back and see what news they bring."

• cue you stopping in your tracks with the surprised pikachu face

• "(Y/N)? Is something wrong?"

• "N-No, everything's fine. Let's go."

• When you all learned of the news that more orcs have been spotted moving and travelling near the boarders and the shadows are becoming stronger and more menacing, you noticed how Glorfindel immediately took a step forward beside you

• He stood there in front of you, with a comforting hand on your shoulder, as if telling you that everything will be alright

• But his face held worry and he stood there tall and mighty, nearly pushing you to stand completely behind him

• As if he was trying to shield you from all the evil of the world, like a parent trying to keep you safe

• And when, a few months after the ill news, Elrond gently told you that he could not find a way to bring you back to your world

• And when you hid yourself in the corners of Imladris where elves rarely go to

• And when Glorfindel would always find a way to find you

• That was the moment when you truly realized that he loved you like family, like his own daughter

• Even though you didn't have a great relationship with your family back in your world, you had friends and people that you loved. The fact that you'd never be able to see them again scared you and the feeling of being alone in this grief, in this world, was too much that you broke down and cried

• The one who held you together was Glorfindel. When he had finally found you, he sat down on the ground beside you and gathered you in his arms. Pulling you onto his lap, he placed your head on his chest and rocked you from side to side. He tucked your head under his chin and said,

• "I know there is nothing I can do to help ease the pain. But you are not alone, my child. You have us. You have me."

• In the midst of all the tears, you looked up at him, still with the surprise in your eyes

• "Why do you call me your child?" you ask out of curiosity. "Why are you so nice to me? I am not your family, nor anyone important to begin with."

• Glorfindel smiles. Now he knows why you always looked surprised (although he knew there was more to it but that can be talked about another day). He places a kiss on the top of your head, and hugs you tighter before saying,

• "If you share a bond with them, if you love them and care for them, if there is a special place for them in your heart, then even though they do not have the same blood running in their veins...

• "... they are family."
