Chapter 6
Avery
"Ready?" Asher asked as I walked out of our room, locking it behind me.
"Yes," I say taking his hand. It was our last dinner date in Hawaii before I leave and I was sad. I didn't want to leave.
Somehow, Asher and I were wearing matching clothes. He was in a black buttoned down shirt, hair made messy and his cologne smelled amazing. I was in my little black no-sleeve dress with black high heels, my make-up done naturally and my hair looked normal.
"Reservation under the name....," he said his name as I zoned out looking at a poster which said that there was a riff off tonight. I smiled because I loved singing.
"Sir, I am so sorry but we have only one table and there are 2 of your groups," the man said and I walked up to them. I was about to tell Asher to give up the table to the other group but I saw the creep I punched earlier and I decided not to say anything.
"Oh! So this chick wants to get this table too," he exclaimed and his group of friends followed him. Everyone except a girl was a boy in their group.
"Oh! This asshole who I beat up in the morning wants it too," I say and his friends laugh. Kyle asked them to stay quiet and came dangerously close to me. I could see his face purple and blue in the face I had punched him and it was swollen. I was satisfied.
"We will not give up the table," he said and I glare.
"Neither will we, Unless you apologise" I say stubbornly. All I wanted was an apology from him.
"No way!" he exclaimed and I remembered something.
"Why don't we both take part in the riff off competition? The winner gets the table and the loser apologises and leaves," I say thinking quick and he looked like he considered it. His friends were shocked.
"Deal," he said and we turn to go to the stage where the competition was taking place. We both signed up and each of us took a mic.
"So listen up contestants, I will press this button and whichever theme comes on, you need to sing a song related to it. The person can be interrupted by the rival group in middle of their song, relevant to the team. The beat will be changing randomly and you need to sing your song accordingly," the announcer announced on the microphone and we nod. I was excited and nervous. People had started to gather around to see and Asher was behind me, and looked like he was hiding.
"So, the first theme is......... a happy breakup song," the announcer said and I think fast.
"Thought I'd end up with Sean
But he wasn't a match
Wrote some songs about Ricky
Now I listen and laugh
Even almost got married
And for Pete, I'm so thankful
Wish I could say, "Thank you" to Malcolm
'Cause he was an angel," I sing Ariana Grande's 'Thank you', next, a classic happy breakup sing and the audience cheered for me."Thank you, next (next)
Thank you, next (next)
Thank you, next
I'm so fuckin' grateful for my ex
Thank you, next (next)
Thank you, next (next)
Thank you, next (next)
I'm so fuckin'," I was interrupted by Kyle when he started singing 'Love yourself' by Justin Beiber and I was impressed too."This is a shout out to my ex
Heard he in love with some other chick
Yeah yeah, that hurt me, I'll admit
Forget that boy, I'm over it
I hope she gettin' better sex
Hope she ain't fakin' it like I did, babe
Took four long years to call it quits
Forget that boy, I'm over it," I sing Little Mix's Shout out to my ex because that one is a classic too. He interrupts me by singing 'truth hurts' by Lizzo. I have to admit, he sings pretty dam well.
