Chapter 23

Avery

"Thank you LA!" I say as I finish my concert in LA and everyone cheers. I bow down and walk backstage as my team celebrates finishing a tour in Nashville and I join them. I see Addison and her friends along with Jack, Ashley, Andrew and Harvey coming towards us.

"Hey guys," I say and hug my siblings. It was the first time I had seen them ever since they had arrived in San Francisco.

"Hi I am Avery," I say turning towards Addison's friends and they smile. I could see that they were excited.

"I am Miley," a girl with red hair and brown eyes says and I smile at her.

"I am Sandy," a girl with blonde hair and Hazel eyes says and the other three girls introduce themselves as Danielle, Brooke and Luna. They were all so sweet to be honest. I spoke to them and my siblings but I noticed Ashley looking away.

"Alright, come on. Let's go do something fun," I say and they accompany me back to my dressing room. I get changed and get my makeup removed and I applied some chapstick and moisturizer as I walked out.

"I am starving. Let's get something," I say as I walk out of the dressing room in a simple white t-shirt, boyfriend jeans, some boots and my hair was in a messy bun and I grabbed my sunglasses and my bag with my phone.

We take two cars because not all of us can fit in one and I drove the car I was in with Ashley, DaniAvery, Addison, Andrew and Miley. We go to a restaurant and have lunch there and as we got out, there was cameras flashing in our faces.

"Hey Avery, I am a huge fan. Can I take a picture with you?" a girl asks and I nod taking a picture with her and many more that came and soon we drove off. It was time to drop off Addison's friends at the airport because they had school and wanted to go back where as my siblings stayed with me for a couple of days.

"Bye guys. It was nice meeting you," I say giving them a hug and we take pictures. Since Addison mentioned that they liked my clothing brand, I got them all a gift bag and they were excited.

"Alright, who wants smoothies? I know this amazing place," I say turning to look at my siblings and they agreed. We all sit in my car and I drive them to my favorite smoothie place and we all got smoothies for our evening snack.

"Wow, this is really good," Jack says sipping his drink and I smile.

"I know right?" I say and he nods. We walk into few stores and shop for a while. I paid for everything they brought because well I wanted to pay for them.

"Avery?" Addison says and I look at her. She was pointing at the outside of the store where there was bunch of paparazzi taking pictures of us and I sigh. They had followed us all the way here.

"Just stay calm and close to me alright?" I say and they nod. I pay for the accessories they brought and I walk out of the store and met my siblings out first. The paparazzi kept shouting questions that I couldn't hear at all.

"Guys, I am out with my siblings after a long time so please, can you stop following us? I really would appreciate it if you don't," I say turning to them as everyone boards the car one by one.

"No! Let me go! Avery!" Addison screamed and I turned to see her getting attacked by paparazzi and some people. There were cameras in her face and they were physically pushing her back. I immediately ran over to her.

"Get away from her! Move!" I say shoving them away from Addison but I saw a man groping her chest intentionally and I was so mad.

"You stupid pervert!" I say punching him in the face and everyone goes silent. All I could hear was the clicking of the cameras. The man I just punched had a bleeding nose and a bruised lip. I shake my knuckles and look at him.

"You do not touch my sister or any women inappropriately without her consent. Got that?" I say loudly at him and he stands up.

"You bitch! You broke my nose. I will file a case on you," he says and I smile.

"There's proof here that you groped Avery's sister right here and you would go to prison," one of the people shooting the footage says and I smile at them. The man just shuts up and I put an arm around Addison.

"Thank you," I say looking at the woman who stood up for me and she smiles.

"Come on Addy," I say leading her to my car's front seat and I drive away from the location. Everyone stayed very silent in the car, not knowing what to say.

"Thank you Avery," Addison says softly and I smile at her and place my hand on her and I hold it.

"Of course Addy and I am so sorry for everything," I say and she smiles back.

"Does this happen to you all the time?" Harvey asks and I shake my head.

"Well, they follow me and capture everything but they have never gotten physical with me and now they never will with any of your guys too," I say looking at him and he nods. I drive back to my home where we ordered food for the night as we sat in the hot tub.

"I like your house," Andrew says and I smile.

"Thank you," I say. I did like my house very much too. We had dinner in the home theater watching a movie and continued the movie after finishing our dinner while we ate desert. I received a package at my door and I see that it was flowers and some things waiting for me from Alex, apologizing for what he did and saying he realized his mistake. I smile and take it inside and place it in a vase.

"Jack your room is down the hall, Addison your room is right next to mine, Ashley yours is opposite to mine and Harvey and Andrew, you both will sharing a room and your room is bigger than the others because two of you are staying in it. Is that fine?" I ask and they all nod.

"Feel free to use the pool, the sauna, the game room, anything alright? And if you need something, you can ask me," I say and they all agree walking into their rooms. I go into mine and open my phone.

Alex had called me so I call him back. It had been a while since I've spoken to him because we always fought whenever we did and I was mainly busy to talk to him.

"Hey Alex, I am so sorry that I couldn't speak to you earlier. I was-," I start as he picks up the phone.

"You were too busy for me Avery. That is it. You don't care," he says and I roll my eyes.

"I was with-," I start but he cuts me off.

"I don't need excuses Avery. You always do this. You never have time for me. All you care about is your career and yourself," he says and I got mad.

"Alex, never cut me off ever again and I was with my siblings. It was the first time I have seen them in months for Christ's sake," I say irritated.

"Oh! I didn't know," he says.

"Yeah how would you know if you don't let me speak? I am tired Alex," I say sitting on my bed.

"I am sorry Avery," he apologizes like he always does.

"You always say these mean things to me and apologize Alex. What's the point of it? I care about my career sure but I haven't forgotten about you. I am in the middle of a tour right now and I can't be with you. You have to understand that," I say and he apologizes profoundly.

"Thank you for the flowers but bye Alex," I say ending the call in the middle of his speech about how he cares about me because I have heard it all before. Someone knocks on my door softly and I open it to find Addison standing on the other side.

"Addy, come in," I say and she sits on my bed.

"I am sorry Avery. I didn't mean to but I heard your call with Alex," she says and I sigh. She holds my hand and squeezes it.

"Avery, you are a strong woman. You don't need a man like that who doesn't appreciate you," she says and I nod.

"I know but I am engaged to him and I love him. I don't want to give up on him so easily, I can't," I say and Addison nods. We speak about different things and soon she fell asleep on my bed. I tuck her in and I changed into my night clothes and slip into the bed next to her.

I was so tired today that I couldn't even open my mails or work on any designs like I do every day so I just slept peacefully for the first time in months. Maybe it was because my family was here but I was happy today despite my fight with Alex.
