F R A G I L E

s t a r s

You're so similar to sun, 
shining so bright,  full of light, 
bringing a smile upon people's face, 
they've always looking up to you.

I am here,  watching you from afar, 
we don't belong to each other, 
how can it? 
You exist in daylight, 
I exist during nightfall .

A mixture of helium and hydrogen, we are. 
Yet so opposite, it's unfair .
I wonder,
what's wrong with me? 
why am I not good enough? 
why was I a mere existence of shadow that lurking around in darkness? 
Have you guess yet? 
You see,
I'm just a simple, small star. 

But one day, during one of those hard days;
when my bitter thoughts consumed me,
you reached out to me,  and held my hand;
reprimanded me for how ridiculous those thoughts were,
assured me that while I didn't notice, people did looking up to me too.

Take a hint,  will you,  sun dearest? 
Those are not what bothered me. 
It's the fact that we didn't belong,
that fact everyone tried to told me,
that I know deep down but refused to acknowledged it during that day we danced together,
with no company,  no prejudice, 
just moonlights illuminating our faces.

When I told you this however,
scoffing was what you just did,
before my heart could clench further,
your warm hands lift up my chin,
forcing me to look at those twinkling eyes, 
a ghost of smile on your lips;  like you're holding back a laugh,
and spoke so softly that I was taken aback,
"Sun is one of the stars too,  didn't you know? "
your eyes were fierce,  daring anyone to told you otherwise,
so I kept quiet,
and gave you one of those secret smile. 

Two stars against the galaxy,
they won't let those old prejudice set them apart.
