I look at Ryland in alarm. Eyes wide and cheeks flushed.
"We have to go."
"No we don't." I squeak, pulling at the hem of my shirt.
"He'll come back."
"We can hide?" I offer, glancing at his naked chest.
He smirks, seeing where my gaze has wandered.
"From your dad? Nobody hides from Liam."
"I am my fathers daughter."
Ry grins, standing from the ground and grabbing his shirt. He pulls me to him, whispering a kiss across my lips to my cheek and finally to my ear.
"I'm game." He hushes, he steps back and pulls his shirt over his head.
I pull back, blushing. Grabbing his hand I pull us to my window, shoving the pane open slowly and quietly.
I look back at Ryland when he tugs on my hand.
"Are you sure you want to do this, face Liam's wrath?"
"He has nothing in me, he raised me to be worse than him. I just have better control."
He chuckle, helping me crawl out of my window.
I jump from the second story, landing lighting on my bare feet, grass twinkling beneath me.
I look up and watch as Ryland descends, landing agilely beside me.
I grab his hand and sneak around the side of the house, listening for any whisper of sound.
The lot is quiet, the wind the only sound. I peak around the tendered building, sucking in a harsh breath at the twinkling blue eyes glaring at me.
"I taught you that, you can't beat me." Dad says strongly, pointing an accusing finger at me.
Ryland swear softly behind me.
I twist my lips when he crooks his finger, demanding me out from my hiding spot.
I pull Ryland with me, and he staggers to a stop by my side.
Dad glares at him, menace rolling off him in waves.
"You-"
I scoff, halting back at him and taking a threatening step forward.
"You're not going to hurt Ryland, he's my boyfriend now and you can't do anything about it."
"Can't I just?" Dad taunts.
"Did you say boyfriend?" Mums voice erupts behind dad, her eyes twinkling.
I pause. "Yes."
There's a hesitating silence that surrounds the group.
"I win!" Mum exclaims, pumping a fist in the air in joy.
Dad pouts. "Andy." He whines.
Mum shakes her head, pointing at dad.
"I said they'd be together before they were 18, they're are 17. I win."
"Wait." I shake my head, squeezing Rylands hand. "Won what?"
Mum has the good sense to look guilty. "I won the bet."
"The bet?" Ryland chumes in, pulling me back into him.
Dad scoffs. "I be let you wouldn't start dating until after 18."
"I said before. I win." Mum wiggles her arms, giving a gloating look to dad.
Dad growls and glares at both Ryland and I. "After everything I did." He whispers almost to himself.
"Everything you did?" I question.
Dad looks at me like I'm stupid "you didn't think I hated Ryland did you? I just wanted to win the bet. Overprotective father seemed the best course of action." He looks at us with narrowed eyes. "I was wrong. Next time I won't be."
"Next time?" Ryland repeats.
Dad shakes his head, "that's right, there won't be a next time will there Ryland?"
I feel Ry tense at my back and he nods his head. "No sir, I'm hers." His thumb rubs along my knuckles "forever if she'll have me."
"Oh she'll have you." Dad pouts at me "I didn't go through all this trouble just to lose a bet and than have your heart broken. No more boys but Ryland."
"Liam you can't say that!" Mum admonishes
"I just did." He harrumphs and flicks his wrist at us. "Now hurry up and put some shoes on, we're going training."
