Confidence-chapter 3
You know nothing

We were all sitting at the table once again. Waiting for our food.

"Bro, why do you keep looking at her?" Aaron asked snapping Josh out of his thoughts.
"Looking at who?" He said trying to seem like he wasn't looking at me.
"Kayla!?" Aaron laughed.
"I wasn't!" He said defensively.
"Yeah you were!" Aaron said with a smirk.
"Somebody's gotta crush!" Liz teased.
"No, I don't. Even if I did it wouldn't matter." Josh said.
"Why nah!" Emily laughed.
"Um for one I'm scared of her brothers and two she already has a boyfriend." Josh shrugged.
"Um no." I say scrunching my eyebrows.
"What made you think that?" Max laughed.
"Well she's always wearing that ring. I thought it was like a promise ring or something." Josh shrugs.
"No." I say closing my hand and covering it with my other.

They all look to me. Confused some.

"Then what is it?" Josh laughed.
"It's a-uhh purity ring." I say looking down at it.
"Oh. What's that?" Josh asked stupidly.
"Something that your dad gives to the daughter just meaning that I'll wait." I sigh.
"Ohhhhh." Josh says finally getting it.

"That's stupid." Eric says.
"Well it's something I expect my future husband to do with my future daughter." I say.
"Yeah me too!" Amanda, Eric's girlfriend says.
"Looks like you don't pay any attention." I say as I look to her ring.

Mine and hers were both similar.

After eating~

"Josh can you take me home?" I ask
"Yeah, sure." He said.

I say bye to my friends and then go with Josh. We get in his car and sit in silence.
"Are you really scared of my brothers." I ask.
"Umm. Yeah." He said with the 'duhh' tone.
"They're really not that bad." I say with a laugh.
"Still scared." He said with a laugh.

We sat in quite for the rest of the ride. Finally pulling up to my house u tell him bye and get my bag. I walk inside to see my dad in the living room.

"Where have you been! It's 12:30. And who was that, that brought you home." He asked waiting for an answer.
"Dad calm down. Josh brought me home." I say.
"Josh? Josh as in the basketball player." He asked.
"Yeah." I say.

I see dad look down at my ring. As if he was thinking I did something. The 'dirty'. Haha no.

"No, Daddy. We didn't do that. I swear! We were with other friends. We just went out to eat after the game. I don't like him like that." I said defensively.
"Okay, Please, just next time tell me." He says.

I walk upstairs to my room and shower. Long day. To long.

I walk back into my room and dad knocks at my door.

"Yes?" I say as he walks in.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to act like that. I know you wouldn't do that." He says shamefully.
"It's alright dad." I smile.
"Your brothers might come home tomorrow!" He says happily.
"Yeah, they always say that. But never do." I say.
"Yeah."
"Goodnight dad." I say and hug him.
"Goodnight, love you." He says then walks out the door.

I lay down and then I get a text.
Who in their right mind would text me! Everyone knows I like to sleep!

'Hey. This is Josh.' The text read.

How did he get my number!?

'Hey Josh. How did you get my number?' I question.
'Max.' He said.

Curse you Max!

'Oh, well what do you want. I mean. I'm not trying to sound rude, but how else are you supposed to ask that.' I text him quickly.

'A couple of us guys and their girlfriends are going out tomorrow. And, well. Umm. They kinda don't want me to be there without a 'date ' and you're the only girl that's my friend that will help me with this.' He says.

Humm. Let me think. No!

'So you want me to lie to your friends? And their girlfriends.' I question.

'Yeah.' He says.
'Why me?' I text.
'Well you're pretty. Someone that can keep a secret. And I kinda described you and your looks as my girlfriend' he says.
'Are you serious! Why would you do that! Ugh! Josh, you're stupid.' I type

Stupid!
'Will you help me or not! Please Kayla.'

Ugh. Fine!

'Fine. Only because I'm a good friend! Even though you and I aren't friends!!! But I'll help you.' I type.

'Were not friends?' He asks.
'Well you've never been friendly to me!' I defend.
'Yeah, yeah. I'm sorry! But tomorrow when we do this you're going to have to act like my girlfriend! Like let me hold your hand or something like that.' He says.

Ugh! No.!

'Ugh! Joshua Ryan Collins. I hate you.! Okay' I say.
'You don't hate me.' He replied.
'That's what you think.' I type.
'That's what I KNOW!' He replied.
'Whatever I'm going to sleep.'
'Goodnight. I hate you too.' He replied.
