It's a little crazy how a routine can start without anyone realizing it. It's crazy how someone can just pop into your existence and be there as if they'd been there the whole time. It's crazy how hearts can beat to the same rythem even when minds are stubborn.
It had been probably two weeks since Ruby arrive in the casino and during that time she seemed to mesh well with everyone. She was just good with people.  She and dice even got along though neither of them would admit it. They enjoyed their rivalry far too much.
But after everything dice was learning about her he just didn't have it in him to really hate her.

Ruby would man a poker table in the day and sing her heart out at night for the devil. He would play cat and mouse with her in her dressing room after every show as well and as much as she didn't want to admit it she looked forward to how far she could push him to take things. She looked forward to his growling in her ear and him pinning her against the wall... She even found herself dreaming of him and even worse daydreaming when no one was at her card table.
It was getting bad, to the point dice even took notice and asked her if she was alright.
She lied and said she was just a little tired and spacing out, thanking the heavens that the runes on her hand didn't apply to dice.
The only one she talked to about it was mango.
"Why don't you just talk to him?" He suggested as ruby paced in front of him.
"Are you crazy? He's the devil! My point is I shouldn't feel like this for him at all!" She explained.
"But what if he feels the same way?"
"Even if he said he does then it would all be a ploy to get my soul. He thinks I'm fun to mess with mangs. I'm a toy to him. That's all. I'm something sparkly to chase around."
He sighed and bit his lip before we started to say something and he heard dice calling for him. "I gotta go ruby. Breaks over." He said before standing and squeezing out of her dressing room.
She sighed and sat down in front of her mirror and looked at herself. "Maybe...maybe he does like me?" She whispered before there was a knock at her door. "I'm working on it dice!" She called, agrivated to be rushed again.
The door opened and in stepped a smiling devil and at first she smiled back until she saw the skinny blonde thing hanging off his arm and her face fell into a hard line.
"Ruby. Got a minute?" He asked, a clearly evil smirk on his face.
She blushed a bit and turned to face her mirror, messing with her makeup. "If I have to." She spat back.
The devil felt his grin grow wider. "This is Taffeta. A new friend of mine. I was just showing her around. She's gonna stick around for your show this evening."
The girl finally spoke after a giggle and her voice was the most high pitched whiny sound ruby had ever heard and her Boston accent was so thick she hardly sounded like she was speaking a real language. "Oooooh! A show? What kinda show does she do Lulu?" She squeaked.
Ruby made a face and raised an eyebrow at the devil. Lulu? How did this bitch get away with calling him lulu?
"She sings. Isn't that right ruby?" He mused, pushing his faced into the bimbos neck and ruby felt a fire light in her.
"Yeah.... usually I do." She said before standing. "But suddenly I'm not feeling so well. Have dice do something instead. I'm going to bed." She snapped, pushing past the devil and hurrying out the door. He did that on purpose. He was just trying to fuck with her and she knew it but...that didn't mean it didn't hurt.

The devil turned and watched her go, his smile gone and his ears were back. That wasn't the reaction he was expecting. He hadn't seen her angry like that before...She had never just walked out on him for teasing her... It was just a game...
He left the blonde and hurried after her, "Ruby! RUBY!" He roared as he caught up to her, stopping her just before she got on the elevator.
"Do you have a fucking problem?" He snapped.
Ruby kept her back to him as he grabbed her wrist and held her in place. This was the first time she had avoided his eyes.
"Answer me!" He snapped.
And she turned around and slapped him, the sound of her hand ringing across the casino made everyone stop and stare.
The devil was frozen for a moment as he felt anger building inside of him. No one lived after they hit...
He had turned back to raise a clawed hand to bring down on her to be met by those beautiful red eyes but...they had mascara tears streaming down her cheeks from them.
"Ruby..." He said, his voice soft, shocked. She was crying...because of what he did.
She growled and turned to get into the elevator and left him standing there, sore cheek and all.
All the staff and patrons were shocked. Ruby had just slapped the devil...and lived to walk away.
