Marcus glances at me as we walk down the bustling hall with Annie. "Are you coming with me straight from school, Lyla?"
I nod and Annie glances at us. "Where are you two going?"
"We have joint therapy cuz of the...you know."
"Oh."
I nod awkwardly as a kid body slams me into the locker on my right. I thud into the locker, my shoulder throbbing.
Annie turns to me. "Are you okay?"
I rub my shoulder. "I'll be okay."
Marcus meet's the kids eyes and I sigh. It's Toby, one of his old friends. Nothing good will come from this... "What was that for, Toby?"
He grins. "I don't know what you're talking about.."
Marcus narrow his eyes. "Playing stupid isn't very flattering on you."
I step forward. "Now if we just say sorry like the adults we are, this can all be done."
Toby shakes his head. "But I can't say sorry if I don't know what I'm apologizing for..."
Annie meets his eyes. "You body slammed Lyla into the locker. So just say sorry."
He sighs. "I'm sorry I body slammed you."
"Thank you."
He slowly walks way. "But it won't be the last time." He mumbles under his breath.
Marcus sighs and I glance at Annie. "Let's just hurry up and get out of here."
They nod and we all walk towards our lockers, quickly getting our stuff into our backpacks.
Annie turns to me. "You sure you're okay?"
I nod as Marcus turns towards us. "It's just a shoulder...we have two for a reason."
She laughs. "Well if you're making jokes you're okay."
I grin. "See you tomorrow, Annie."
"See you tomorrow you two."
"Bye."
I wave just as Marcus shuts his locker. We walk side by side, with Marcus closer to the lockers this time as we head towards the door.
"Let me text my mom I'm going with you." He nods as I quickly send the message off to my mom. I walk towards  his car, glancing out at the stream of kids leaving the school.
My mom texts back and I smile. After the party, a lot went down. The first major decision our parents made after they met each other was to get us a therapist. And when the therapist heard the situation and saw how comfortable we were with each other, they decided to do joint therapy. It does make it easier but doesn't mean we don't get nervous.
Marcus meets my eyes as we get into his car. "How do you think today's session will go?"
I shrug. "Our therapist means well but can't really change anything for us."
He sighs. "I know. No one really can."
I nod. "The staff at school should do more."
"But we had to be friends with some of the richest families in town and crossing them is a bad idea."
I glance at Marcus. "Students should come first."
"But we don't." U glance away and awkward silence fills the car.
Marcus smiles, breaking the silence. "My mom asks about you all the time."
I grin. "Oh really? Do you talk about me alot?"
He flushes. "I'm not going to answer that."
I smirk. "I think you will."
'I disgaree."
"I could just call your mom and ask her... and who knows maybe Sadie will be there and can tease you about it too..."
His eyes widen and he sighs. "Fine, I talk about you alot."
"You're never living this down."
"I hate you."
I shake my head. "You adore me."
He glances away and I laugh. "If it makes you feel any better my mom asks about you too because she hears us on facetime alot." I puase. "She thinks you're nice....I don't know where she gets that one from..."
He laughs. "I am nice."
I laugh. "That's highly debatable."
He bites back a smile. "I could just let you out and walk...."
"That would prove my point."
He smiles. "We wouldn't want that..."
"Exactly." I grin as I look out the window. We're here.
Marcus goes quiet as we pull into the lot. The building stands before us as I sigh. He turns to me as he turns of the ignition. "You ready?"
"As ready as I can be."
We get out of the car and Marcus walks closely next to me as we walk in. " I'll be right here the whole time."  I smile. "Thanks."
Our therapist meets us at the door, her smile illuminating her face.
"Hello."
I force a smile. "Hi."
Marcus gives her a half hearted wave and we follow her back into her office. Marcus sits next to me and we face our therapist.
"How was your day?"
I sigh. "Tiring."
"Care to elaborate?"
Marcus glances at me. I nod and he smiles. "The kids have been getting worse at school. They've been making comments which we can handle, but also getting physical. Like shoving us, some have attempted to trip us."
I nod. "We can handle it, but it takes its toll. Especially because the teachers don't do anything to help us."
Marcus nods. "We're just so tired of it."
She nods. "I'm sorry. Have you talked to the administration?"
"They don't so shit."
"Hmm. Let me see if I can get them to do anything for you."
"Thanks."
She nods and stands up. "Let me go check my files for their contact info. Do you want anything?"
"Some water please."
Marcus smiles. "Me too."
"Follow me then." We stand up and she walks us down a hall, towards a small little kitchen.
"It's right in here. Help yourself."
Marcus smiles. "Thanks."
I take a deep breath and Marcus glances at me. "What's the matter?"
"It's just like his...."
And I go swirling back into the past.
