We stand in silence as I check my watch. "It's been more than seven minutes."
Marcus sighs, pounding his fist in the door. "Guys this isn't funny, let us out. "
I lean against the door, listening for a response.
"Come on, stop ignoring us!"
Marcus does the same.
I turn to him."Is someone crying?"
"Drunk people always cry at parties...probably something stupid."
"Oh so something you did then?"
He glares. "I'm going to ignore that."
"You walked right into that one."
He bites back a smile. "Maybe I did."
"There's no maybe. You definitely did."
He shakes his head, as he puts his ear against the door again. "You're ridiculous."
"Look who's talking."
"Who thought it was a good idea to bring alcohol?"
"Someone who likes to cause chaos."
"That narrows it down."
He smirks. "Wasn't that helpful?"
"Nothing more helpful could have been said."
I lean away from the door. "Now what?"
He tries the doorknob and sighs. "I don't know."
"Are all parties this bad?"
"I normally just have ones with the girls and we're more chill."
"Imagine. Even the guys are chaotic but normally not this bad."
"So you're friends can be nice for once?"
"Bold of you to assume they're all my friends."
I pause. "They aren't?"
"Just because I seem friendly with someone doesn't mean we're friends."
"Fair."
He nods. "Are you friends with everyone?
"Every girl minus Jack's girlfriend."
He smiles. "So you're very friendly then."
"I guess you could say so."
He smiles. "I thought you would have been friends with the guys..or at least you're friends' boyfriends."
I shake my head. "Most of the guys here are jerks. No offense."
"None taken."
"How long have you known all the guys?"
"I've known Jack since preschool, and the rest of the guys we met in junior high or when we all joined the football team."
"That's nice. Having a solid friend group is always fun. You never have to worry about being alone."
"Exactly. We're just chaotic so it's never boring, to say the least."
"You don't say."
He smirks. "How about you? How long have you know the girls?"
"Saige and I met in second grade and have been inseparable. We met the rest of the girls in fourth and have been friends since. Our parents all share us, we're always at one of the houses together."
"Even better for her parents."
"Exactly. They do love us."
"I bet they do. You are quite entertaining."
"I could say the same about you."
"That's why I'm friends with these idiots."
"Takes one to know one."
"Do you be so mean to all of your friends?"
"Oh so we're friends now?"
He blushes. "Umm if you want to be?"
"You're blushing..."
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"Are not."
I pull out my phone, taking a selfie of the two of us."
"What was that for?"
"Look, red cheeks."
I send it to him and out my phone away. "You put a filter on it."
"No."
He pauses. "Do you smell smoke?"Smoke? Uh ohh👀👀 Comment and vote if you enjoyed it!
